Never understood the ND hate. 1 and I college visited ND v Mich weekend and we both fell in love with the place. He got rejected and teared up a bit. Crushed Shreyer aerospace 4.0 all good. We remember hanging with a group of 6 30yo ND alums (1 an Armstrong Lancaster engineer) and a 65 yo Michigan couple. Line of the game when the outcome was decided “suck a dick Michigan” . I’ll never forget it.
I’ve had 4 kids go through Catholic school (youngest still has 2 years to go, I guess, but we’re confident she’ll pul it off). Not one of them ever expressed any interest in ND. Oldest two went to a different Catholic college.
And the worst tailgating experience I ever encountered was at ND. Arrogant. Everybody has different experiences, I suppose.

I guess I’m immune to come uppance schit. We went into the trees to see the band march to the stadium an hour before kick off and F 14s? buzzed us over the trees. 45 minutes later a pilot From the buzzing (a ND grad) was raising the flag in the corner of the end zone in his uni. Can’t describe the frenzy in the stadium when they introduced him (Jane is a wood girl)

Band marching to the stadium was cool. I’ve just never been to a tailgating scene before where people weren't welcoming besides that one. Not dicks, mind you, but not welcoming. Also, it was the only time I’ve been so if I went again I may have an entirely different experience.

So is Villanova, Georgetown, St. Joe’s, Holy Cross, Fordham, Loyola, etc. That’s kindof my issue with ND fans that didn’t go there, but feel obligated to have an alliance with them because they are either Catholic or Irish. Why ND? Because they are so hyped in the media? There are so many other Catholic Universities.

Yeah, I thought we were talking Division I ... er, FBS ... um, P5 football teams. I just don't understand rooting for a college team based on religion.

The Long Beach State Dirtbags. The baseball team and only the baseball team goes by this nickname. The rest of the sports teams used to be called the 49ers but some time recently were changed to the Beach!? Why? Maybe it was decided 49ers was somehow politically incorrect.

Anyways, I found this on Wikipedia...

The team's unofficial mascot, The Long Beach Dirtbag, is a long-haired grifter who roams the stadium during baseball games, shouting at the opposition and trying to "borrow" cigarettes from fans in the bleachers. The Dirtbag's image can be found on everything from sweatshirts to caps around Long Beach.
