As opposed to QB’s that actually make better throws and decisions under pressure? Because I’d certainly prefer one of those….if anyone’s ever seen one.

That’s always been such a weird critique for QB’s.
I do think there are some that handle pressure better than others. That being said, most qb's are worse under pressure. That is obvious. I am just saying that a guy that is some what mobile, and is known to make bad decisions under pressure might not be the immediate savior we are all hoping for given our current and on going issues on the o-line.

This is kind of my point. It does not take a great deal of football knowledge to realize we have serious issues up front, and most likely will for the immediate future.

He’s not very mobile? He had like 20 carries against Alabama. In one stretch right before halftime, he ran it 6 times in a row.

ETA: 25 carries for 131 yards

In other games:
11 for 34 Temple.
11 for 28 Houston.
5 for -21 Tennessee.
17 for -29 USC.
24 for 39 Ole Miss.

He did have great days against:
25 for 131 Bama.
17 for 75 LSU.
17 for 45 Mizzou.
9 for 45 Maine.

All total 150 carries for 444 yards and 3 td's. Averaging 3.0 yards per carry.

All in all maybe more mobile than I gave him credit for, but certainly not the next coming of Cam Newton or anything.

That is impressive if you cherry pick one game. In other games however he had 11 carries for 34 yards against Temple, not exactly stellar. He had 11 carries for 28 yards against Houston, again not very stellar. He had 5 carries for -21 yards against Tennessee. He had 17 carries for -29 yards against South Carolina. He had 24 carries for 39 yards against Ole Miss. So you are correct when you say he did have a good day against Bama, Tulane, and LSU. So it seems like he has good and bad days when it rushing. Again, I am not trying to knock the kid I hope he comes to State and rushes and throws for 200 a game each. Total for the year he had 444 yards rushing with 3 td's averaging 3.0 yards per carry.
Compared to the -12 yards rushing Van Buren had this year, 444 yards is looking pretty damn good. And actually, it is pretty damn good for a QB considering it includes sacks.

Which of these were with the fired OC and then after they fired the OC? Does that play any into the numbers?

Great point. I did not give him enough credit for being mobile. I will admit that, but it is not like he is a world beater or the next coming of Tim Tebow. I think we all know the hard truth is that, with or without him, we are staring at best 4 to 5 wins next year. Given we have issues at pretty much every position group.

I mean Shedeur Sanders has gotten a similar number of carries, and has a career rushing total of -93 yards. Arnold’s 444 yards rushing is 537 more yards than Shedeur, on 50 fewer carries.

Also you have to look at what he did after they canned Littrell midseason, and compare the before and after. Littrell was more Air Raid, far fewer designed runs. Most of the rushing yards in those games are going to be broken play scrambles and sacks.

Good point, I think this question was asked about the change in coordinators. I want him to be good to. I do not think Shedeur is seen as a running qb I think he just had to run some given his o-line was probably actually worse than the one at state.

I'd say with him, we might win 4. Without him (and if Shapen gets hurt again), 2 might be the ceiling. We have a lot bigger needs than QB. And I'm a little concerned we're not hearing anything about those positions.

Oklahoma center has a visit here set up now. I guess we are about to get Jahron Manning for what that's worth. Old Dominion safety. Yes....Old Dominion.

He was a 5 star QB ranked number 4 at his position and top 10 overall just 2 years ago as a HS recruit.

If anyone ranked that high was giving us the time of day as a HS recruit, these boards would be filled with guys salivating and jerking all over themselves.

Nobody is expecting him to come in and be a running QB like Cam Newton or run for 1500 yards like Fitz. But he is a mobile guy that can bring that element to the offense just like Gabriel did in his time at OU. He, by the way, had 93 carries for 373 yards and 12 TDs.

Ok got it, thank you. He was highly rated coming out of high school. We are hoping he will be as good Gabriel in a completely different situation other than his familiarity with Lebs to be fair.
