no telling how many were very seriously injured though (and may die in the next few days). What a tragedy.
That's why I quit riding the bike a couple of years ago, though. I rode a good bit for a couple of years with the Jackson Metro Cyclists and had a great time. But then the guy who got the Long Leaf Trace (a great bike trail from Hattiesburg to Prentiss) built got killed in Hattiesburg and another guy got killed in South Jackson, both due to driver's negligence. And a few people got hit (but not hurt) around the Rez. That's when I figured that I like biking, but it's not worth dying for.</p>

Some roided up looking grown redneck punched him through his open window. He was terrified and he gassed it. He pinned a girl against another vehicle as he left. He spun out of control and ran into a ditch across the road from Hotty Toddy's (Fraziers) and wrecked. Girls friends beat his *** inside of the car.
I felt sorry for the dude. He was just trying to get away from a bigger, older redneck and made a bad decision.

I was there too, and I know the guy. He's from the little burg down Hwy 7 from Oxford. He was about 18 at the time.
One of my cycling buddies sent this to me earlier tonight but I had not seen/heard the whole story until now.

And yes, I'm going to hell for this, but when I first saw the picture, all I could think of was some new daredevil game made up by Jackass called street bowling or something.
Damn, if the organizers can't police that short of a distance, especially 15 freaking minutes into the race, then they should never be allowed to hold a race again.
Obviously, these were mid-aged amateur cyclists due to the distance/etc. Has to be one of the most graphic cycling-related photos I have seen.
