How can any coach worth an SEC salary lose games like that? Holy **** that is unacceptable. Fire his *** now! Two years with no NCCAT and now this!

Oh yeah, by the way, I'm going to get his autograph first chance I get. Yeah, and then I'm going to pretend to say something childish to him so I'll look like a bad ***.

USM should fire Eustachy too. How does a CUSA powerhouse like USM lose to Caniusus (or whatever the 17 their name is)?

He never had much tournament success before the big 4 showed up on campus (save for 2000 when Mike Miller saved his *** against Butler in the first round) and he hasn't done anything since. Donovan's best days are behind him. I'm sure the Magic are thanking their lucky stars he backed out of that deal and they could hire Van Gundy.

..calling for Donovan's resignation even as I type this.

I can only imagine the long list of statistical evidence they are presenting that supports their case that Billy Donovan is, by far, the worst coach in the SEC currently.

and Donovan is Stansbury of the Eastern Division. A bunch of first and second round exits from the NCAA Tourney. He did make it to the championship game in 2000, but only after Mike Miller's buzzer beater against Butler in the first round that year. If that shot doesn't fall, he never would have made it past the second round until 2006 when he won the national championship. The only difference between him and Stansbury is he got his future NBA players into school and kept them for 2 years. Stansbury couldn't do that and we lost out on Bender, Outlaw and Ellis. If we had gotten those guys, we might have made a Final Four or two, who knows?

Bender, Outlaw, Ellis, and Jefferson would have come to State too. We just backed off of him, bc he made it very clear that he was never even entertaining playing college.

Between RS and BD are that BD got those studs to campus and won 2 NC to boot. RS has had opportunities to get the big men, but he has gotten it done. Maybe with the new practice facility, he will be able to land a few big timers. Someone mentioned "if" Miller doesn't hit the shot vs. Butler, but he did so it counts for BD. We as a fanbase have a major problem with justifying all things bad with "if". If we would have signed Bender, etc, if LT was never here, if we didn't hire Croom, if we beat Memphis, Butler, etc. The truth behind it all is we did and we didn't do all of those "if's", and that's why we are where we are today as an athletic program. I'm guilty of the "if" epidemic too. I have said plenty of times that our basketball program would be much better in the big dance "if" RS would run some sets on the offensive end. I am not pointing a finger at anyone, I'm just making a point. The word "if" is useless in the world of MSU athletics, because it usually justifies a loss or takes the sting out a bit.

If Bowers hits the last second shot against Butler............
If we don't let Texas get a huge early lead in Dallas.........
If Xavier doesn't shoot 99% against us including a half court dagger......
If Roberts doesn't get hurt against Vandy in the SECT.........
If Bullard doesn't turn it over 20 times against Cuse, we win the National Championship. (That one is true.)

I have been guilty of being an "iffer" too. It's just human nature.

What this should illustrate for you chicken littles that have to be talked off the ledge when we lose a game to Richmond is that in college basketball upsets happen and no coach is immune to it. Just about every coach in the country will drop a game or two that they shouldn't. Stansbury does not live in a bubble. Donovan is not a moron for losing to South Alabama and Stans is not a moron for losing to Richmond.

If if's and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry <17>'n Christmas, and we all know who is to blame for that injury to LR.

Damn you for bringing back bad memories. Twice that little **** drove down the lane right at Sheldon Williams only to miss or have his shot blocked while Shane was wide the <17> open in the corner.

It is not just MSU. "If" Chalmers does not hit that shot then Memphis has a national title. "If" Bradford does not get hurt then maybe Oklahoma is playing for a BCS title. Sometimes "ifs" are facts and not necessarily trying to justify losing.

that rider loss is horrible though. But still, a lot of good teams struggled and/or lost their first game this year against far inferior competition. Syracuse was just lucky enough to do it in an EXH game, so look where they're at now. Fact is, w/o that Rider loss, we are still ranked and in good shape. But, Thick's great post is right...we lost, so "if" doesn't matter.</p>

just think...he takes that job, coaches 2-3 seasons, gets canned/resigned because he's in over his head....he probably comes back to college ball to a major program with a huge salary like Saban, Spurrier, or even Pitino. Wonder how much money he's lost as a result of changing his mind and going back to Florida.

By the way, I think he was up for Orlando...could've been Miami but I want to say Pat Riley was already there at that time. Can't remember exactly
