I assume this is primarily a cost saving measure. Got to think if he struggles next season that both he and Scott are headed out of town

4-4 w/ Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss coming up, easily looking at 4-7 at that point (2-6 conference) w/ only the FSU Crab Legs to finish with. Stricklin is sticking his neck out on this one. Interesting though because its hard to imagine them letting Stricklin make that call so somebody must have given him permission?

Of course.

You can easily tell who the championship level coaches are and aren't, usually as soon as they step on campus at a blue blood. Bubba ain't it. Loaferz can talk all that stupidity about taking time, but he ain't got the right guy. He just doesn't want to fire him, and he knows that means much worse things for himself as well.

But if things do get worse this year, and they likely will, I bet they still fire him.

The classic "vote of confidence?" I have to think this is designed to stabilize recruiting. Still plenty of time to change their minds.

I take it to mean no one they wanted was interested in their job and their second options were no better than Napier.

It's probably a cost-saving decision, but really, what else would Stricklin say? He can't really come out and say we'll fire him later, at the end of the season. He's pretty much got to say nothing, fire him, or say he's safe.

If there was any doubt previously, this move probably guaranteed that Loafers fate is tied to Napier's fate.

The leadership void at Florida is the real reason that are keeping him one more year.
