Geautrou coached him up.Seriously WTF happened to Hines this year? Third of way through season, one HR, and his ‘double’ earlier in year was a routine fly ball they misplayed. His OPS is .300 points lower than normal.

Was too expensive, evidently. He was never saving his job this season. Should have done the right thing last May.
It’s more expensive to keep a coach a year too long than to fire him when it’s time. Jimbo Fisher & Calipari excluded. Was too expensive, evidently.
You may well be correct, but the ones who would have had to actually foot the bill didn’t see it that way, and were likely looking at it through a lens that didn’t only involve MSU baseball. Hard to know what the right or wrong call was there without knowing the opportunity cost of firing him. It’s more expensive to keep a coach a year too long than to fire him when it’s time. Not true. Which is tantamount to saying “go ahead and give him another year” when you’re telling that to an AD who’s been on the job for 3 months and its a coach 2 years removed from a natty in a non-revenue sport. Not true. Selmon was told it was his call.
Doesn’t matter. It’s a failure on everyone’s part that had a say to not do the obvious bc a lot of people want to cling to the idea lemonis had something to do with our Natty. It was always less about money and more about trying to make us e feel good about that bWhich is tantamount to saying “go ahead and give him another year” when you’re telling that to an AD who’s been on the job for 3 months and its a coach 2 years removed from a natty in a non-revenue sport.
Selmon doesn’t get told that if there is a unanimous consensus on making a move. If some boosters wanted Lemonis gone and some didn’t, that’s the only thing that he could be told. There was no consensus largely because of the staff buyout. If the buyout was $0 instead of around $4 ~ $5 million, Selmon would have been told exactly what to do and when to do it….just as Stricklin was with Rick Ray and Cohen was with Moorhead.
That’s only about the 30th time it’s happened this season. Teams have no respect for Hines. And these are bad baseball teams clowning this kid.Wow. USA just intentionally walked the potential winning run. That's a lot of respect for Jordan. And not much for Hines.
How long after you hire a guy to run a $100,000,000 athletic dept do you have to wait for him to actually start doing his job? Just another Keenum 17-up hire.Which is tantamount to saying “go ahead and give him another year” when you’re telling that to an AD who’s been on the job for 3 months and its a coach 2 years removed from a natty in a non-revenue sport.

I agree in principle with some of this, but its just not that simple. First off, new hire is going to be a total unknown. Secondly, its pretty silly to say the guy who brought Will Bednar here singlehandedly had nothing to do with our natty. He’s certainly fallen off and lost his grip on the culture and pulse of the roster, but he absolutely did have a good bit to do with the title.Doesn’t matter. Its more like a $60,000,000 athletic department + a $50,000,000 welfare check from the SEC network, with the donors that are almost exclusively responsible for 30-40% of that $60,000,000 of real revenue every year being the ones that are really making the big decisions. How long after you hire a guy to run a $100,000,000 athletic dept do you have to wait for him to actually start doing his job? They can't find a five-million-dollar turd in all that money?******Its more like a $60,000,000 athletic department + a $50,000,000 welfare check from the SEC network, with the donors that are almost exclusively responsible for 30-40% of that $60,000,000 of real revenue every year being the ones that are really making the big decisions.
The ump was super inconsistent. Called a lot of low balls strikes and called a lot of strikes low in the zone balls.Sucks. Auger looks mostly good again, but barely missed on 3 pitches and it costs us 2 runs.
See Hatcher, Alford and Forsythe after leavingGeautrou coached him up.
Yep. Just more evidence that something is bad wrong.See Hatcher, Alford and Forsythe after leaving
This thread makes me hopeful that we can have at least 1,000 more discussions about how Lemonis should have been fired earlier. Let's keep doing it. It's incredibly original and intelligent to rehash something that will never ever be different than it is right now.
