This must be the most boring game I’ve ever watched.

I guess you’d call our offense methodical.

Did you really expect anything different? With Ashford as the qb?

This was always going to be a glorified practice, imo.

Just win and hopefully by a solid margin with limited injuries. It is a bit boring though.

Looking eerily like one of those close games we play against these type teams. We need a defensive spark.

This type of game does nothing for us but open us up for injuries.
The OL failures will have us playing our 3rd string QB if we are not careful.

It did not help that the crowd sounded like they absolutely could not of cared less about the game.

50-7 win and people are bitching….. we don’t get blowout wins like this too often. Sitting at 3-1. Could be ranked next week. Let the season ride out. This is fun so far!
Nobody is bitching. The sunshine pumpers are acting like we just beat somebody. Akron was one of the 3 games everyone knew we’d win preseason. The team I saw last night likely will lose to Vandy in Nashville. OL is just awful. More times than not, our QB and RB made plays against inferior talent.

It seems like we still got stuffed up the middle more often than not. It feels like most of our big run plays came on perimeter stuff. I think we had a few good runs up the middle, but we had a lot of runs up the middle for no gain or loss.

You have to run some up the middle to make the outside plays work. The defense can’t effectively cover both at the same time. You want them to commit guys up the middle, opens up the roll out pass game too. So effective or not, you have to do it some. Football is not rocket science

You missed the point. We SHOULD have been able to run up the middle against Akron .

The box score looks a lot more exciting than the game felt. I suppose a big part is that the crowd was absolutely not into it. Maybe that was a product of the offense, which seemed a little methodical/plodding at times in the first half. And, as we always seem to do in these kinds of games, we opened with a punt on our first drive (3 and out), and had 2 first half punts and a lost fumble. Between the first and second half we had drives that went punt, TD, fumble lost, punt, TD, punt, then we got hot as Akron wore down and scored 3 straight TDs.

So the end result and the stats were fine, and, yes, they were comparable to Ohio State, though that was their opening game of the year. But, yes, it was a boring game to watch, and I'm not the only one who felt that way. About 80,000 people at the game did as well.

I, for one, was quite happy to watch a boring 50-7 beatdown of a bad team where the result was never in doubt. There were a couple moments where it seemed like maybe Akron could do something to make things interesting, but they never got close to actually taking advantage of those couple moments.

No, the game never really felt in doubt, even as the offense was plodding along in the first half. However, after they scored to make it 22-7 and we fumbled on our last possession of the half, the mind could wonder what would happen if Akron came out and scored to start the second half to make it 22-14. I was never nervous about losing, but the first half did not in any way portend a blowout.
