I am far from an expert and don’t expect all guys to be Jason Nolf or Zain Rutherford, but am I correct in saying that our current roster doesn’t use it much at all?

as good as Zain was with it, how many other guys on the team used it when he was on PSU's team? Nolf was the only one that I recall, and he didn't use it nearly as much as as Zain did. Now that I think of it, I believe McIntosh used it a bit as well.

Keep in mind, the bow and arrow is illegal in youth and high school wrestling. As such, virtually no college wrestlers have experience with it before they enter college. There aren't many other moves that are illegal in youth and high school and are "suddenly" legal in college.

There are exceptions to every rule, but the bow and arrow is generally more effective for shorter guys that are really strong. Their lack of length can make it tough for them to have the leverage to tilt guys.

Adding onto Tom's post: it really isn't used all that much across college wrestling.

Offhand the last non-Penn Stater to feature it was probably Simaz.

A lot more guys will turn the opponent with a turk and then find the ankle (like what Beard did to Hoffman last year). Technically still a bow and arrow, but more opportunistic than by design.

The one Dean used in Iowa was just nasty... Remember him screaming out in pain when Dean locked it in
