And there was much rejoicing in the halls of the McAndrew Board.
He's working on his combine numbers.

Freak athlete. Played hard. Had trouble putting the landing gear down in space to make the tackle. Should test well at combine. To me he is cam brown 2.0. Wish him all the best.
You're right, he played way too high like Cam. I think he's more athleticly gifted than Cam and hopefully someone in the NFL can correct that.

Honestly, I thought he stunk. But, it will be interesting to see what he does in the NFL.

Seems to me like he’s a physical specimen who impresses in appearance and will be great at the combine. But, if you see his tape, it doesn’t impress. I’m not sure what call there is for a linebacker who can’t tackle, doesn’t have a nose for the ball and rarely makes a big play, let alone can take over a game. As I’ve said before, I would have traded him in a heartbeat for Tim Shaw, Mac Morrison, Mauti or a dozen other guys. A big difference between a great athlete and a football player. No tears here.

Linebackers now are asked to drop into coverage so much more that in the past. It's almost like a totally different position. You realize why guys like Mauti and the like primarily played special teams in the NFL? Because they could tackle but not cover. You can't teach speed but you can teach tackling and Smith falls into that category.

Understood and good point. But shouldn’t Smith be able to tackle somebody when they catch the ball too? I don’t remember him defending many passes and he sure seems to whiff on running backs in the flat or tight ends over the middle.

So, I guess he will not play in the bowl game. Somehow with his lack of tackling prowess I don't see it as a loss especially against a team like Arkansas that runs the ball well. Next man up - King or Elsdon? I would be much more concerned if Brooks opts out.

He did say he’s forgoing the bowl game.

Good luck Brandon - we hardly knew ye.

Won't miss him. Now it'll be less complaining about bad fundamentals and missed tackles, so that's a plus. For all the talk about how 'special' of a player he was, there may have been only one game where he was noticeable in a positive way.

I’m sure someone will step up with bad fundamentals and missed tackles. Have faith.

Yeah Pry sucked as a LB coach. You glad he's gone? 😏

Yep, premier athlete and very average football player.

As opposed to Parsons, who is a freak athlete, and a premier football player.

If we have a good athlete that is a good football player to replace Smith, we'll break even....

If we have a very good athlete that is a very good football player replace him, we'll be way ahead!!

As Coach Tomlin said earlier this week they aren't finished products when drafted into the league. It's the NFL coaches and veteran players to help them get to where they need to be. It wasn't long ago guys drafted into the NFL would sit a year a two before seeing playing time, 1st rounder or 7th rounder. They've now been pushed to compete earlier because of big contracts.

Did Oweh wake up one morning after the draft with the elite pass rushing skills he now has?

If you can teach tackling then Smith is a horrible student or Franklin and gang are horrible coaches. Because Smith May be the worst tackler I’ve seen in 50 or so years of following Penn State football. My guess is if he can tackle in college he won’t be able to tackle in the NFL. In either case I won’t miss him taking up space on the PSU defense.

Don’t disagree with most of your post, but your last sentence would lead anyone draftable to conclude he’s ready to enter the draft.
