Parrish fired one day after Fredi says there will be no coaching changes.

On Lowe, as much as he sucks, I don't get it. They have two long relief guys in the pen already. Is he really worth anything as a RH in the pen? Maybe he'll accept a AAA assignment (not having to move helps). Then again, this is a team that refused to give up on Scott Proctor.

Sounds like an upcoming bad contract swap. Gotta be a LF that someone wants to get rid of. Torii Hunter maybe, more power than Prado but not really more value. Michael Young at SS, but he's signed thru 2013. Wow, that's all i could find. scratch that idea.

is one of several things:

1. Lowe will be pissed off at not getting a opportunity to start, and then ask to be released so that he can find somewhere that will give him a chance to start. That might be Houston, but if that's what he wants, he will be able to find a place somewhere that will sign him for cheap.

2. Lowe will be forced to compete for a long relief spot or another role in the bullpen. If he doesn't get a spot, the Braves will designate him for assignment, possibly to Pearl a la Kenshim Kawakami to try to send a message to him but more likely to Gwinett, and he will probably refuse the assignment and then be released. He will probably ask them to trade him in the midst of all of that, but no one is going to take him unless someone really wants him and is willing to take his salary off of the Braves hands. I imagine that the Braves would take take a box of hot pockets for him if anyone wants him.

3. He will just be thankful that he still has a spot on the team and be a good teammate.

More than likely, they will release him during spring training- that's what this looks like to me.

I think he would be great as the hitting coach. Guys rally around him, and I think our hitting consistency will improve if he becomes the hitting coach. He still is a productive major leaguer, so I want him in the lineup. But I think the hitting coach job is his long term if he wants it, so I say go ahead and give it to him in what I think will be his last year, and let him take over full time once he retires. Best case scenario in my opinion.

As for Lowe, I love what Wren said. Lowe is no longer a quality major league starter. I would rather see Delgado, Minor, or Teheran than him. A rotation with Huddy, Jurrjens, Hanson, Beachy, and Minor is still one hell of a rotation. With anyinjuries, Delgado and Teheran are ready to go. They both looked very promising this year. If we can find a way to pay Lowe way less than we will owe him, I will be happy. I think we owe him like 12 million next year, so we need to find a way to cut some of that.

I still think we need an OF bat. I'm really interested to see what we do at the SS position since Gonzalez contract is up. I would love a big splash here, but I'm not sure I see that happening. Uggla leading the team with 82 RBI just doesn't cut it, so we need another legit bat I think. I'm hopeful about next year. I think getting rid of Lowe is addition by subtraction. Heyward has to be better, and Freeman I think is going to be crazy good. Need to keep Bourn long-term though. That is critical.

Last guy I can think of that was a manager/coach was Pete Rose back in the 80's with the Reds.

I agree that the Braves players rally around Chipper- not sure that means that he would be a great hitting coach or not. All that means is that he is a great leader on the field, which is a different animal than being a hitting coach.

The best hitting coaches of all time- guys like Charlie Lau, Walt Hriniak, and Rudy Jaramillo- were often times guys that were not exactly household names. To be a good hitting coach, you have to be a good teacher, and probably more importantly, you have to be good at finding flaws and conveying how to correct them at the Big League level since those players know how to hit for the most part.

The best thing to do with Lowe is to release him. It's not like these teams are stuck with these players no matter what.
