Where we at? This weekend was one fun series. The Reds really surprised me. Reminded me a lot of the Braves 3-4 years ago. Weren’t always seen as a power, but pesky as all get out. Seems like every time ATL threw a knockout punch Cincy always answered and never let the game be comfortable for the Braves.

Best lineup we’ve had and we’ve had many good ones in recent years. The Reds are definitely building. You have to tip your cap. But Snit has these boys playing at a super high level right now.

Just need the pitching to get healthy. The most amazing part about watching the Braves these last few years has been their ability to not hardly skip a beat when faced with injuries to key guys. We all know about the Acuña injury during the title run, but for the last few years it seems like no matter who gets injured there’s little to no drop off in wins, which is obviously the bottom line. I believe they call that depth. Anthopolous is that dude.

It is amazing the depth, several position players have missed time as well, Ozzie, Arcia, Harris, and both catchers, and the train just keeps on rolling. Guys can go on mini to extended slumps and the rest of the team picks them up, nice to have that Rosario/Pillar platoon in left
My biggest concern is the back end of the bullpen (I could see a move made there), they're good but not exactly a shutdown piece, but still one of the best complete staffs in the league so far even without Fried and Wright (Elder has been Allstar worthy), missing Jesse, he's the man!

Good point. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the 2nd half of the season before the trade deadline. It's a double edged sword each season I suppose. Never making any big splash moves is always kind of a dud, but I suppose that also speaks to the core team that's been built and not needing any of those big splash pickups. Obviously money plays a part in it, but I do love how the front office really do still value finding guys who are the right fit. They won't pay big money for a name, they want the right player. It's why people hate the Yankees and why I, along with many other Braves fans I would imagine due to their "willingness to spend" to get the big name guys, thoroughly have enjoyed watching the Mets abysmal season to this point. So easy to hate teams that want to buy their way to a championship.

Same with the Padres, look how much payroll those guys run, just makes your head spin! AA is definitely the man, he doesn't miss much! I just saw where the Yanks are waffling on Josh Donaldson's playing time and whether to DFA him or not, if they did along with Arron Hicks they would be paying 50 million for nothing, crazy!

The other thing I love about the Braves is the coaching staff, and how well they work together, it really is an all-star staff! Another amazing job by AA to keep those guys happy and together! I think AA plays a little Moneyball, but he also has a bunch of experienced staff that he can rely on to evaluate talent the old fashion way by observation. Crazy, the Braves farm system recently has been rated pretty low, but they still manage to be bringing in some young guys that are doing what they were drafted to do in winning MLB games!

I think you look at team-friendly deals (to put it mildly) for Acuna and Albies and it speaks volumes to the chemistry and comradery from the top down. Perennial all-stars who chose to do what was best for them from a comfort and team standpoint than just from a selfish, financial standpoint.

I'm a lifelong Reds fan and it is finally fun again! As young as they are (and they are very young), they have 3-5 stout prospects in the minors (3 in AAA) ... the issue is pitching. Their top 3 starters are on the IL and for me, I would rather they do NOT buy as they need 2-3 quality starters ... with next year being the year we thought they would be competitive, it seems as if next year they will be able to contend. With that, count anything this year as a bonus and build for next year. Votto (and Moustakas, no longer with the club) will no longer be on the books so use the available funds for pitching ... mostly SP but a RP, too. The Braves? Simply loaded ... it was a fun series.

Yes it was! Lots of young talent over there!

MLB Power Rankings
Biggest jump: The Reds made the biggest jump for the second straight week, moving up another seven spots to No. 8. They also jumped seven spots in last week’s rankings, going from No. 22 to No. 15.

If we get Wright and Fried back soon and stay healthy, and Soroka keeps improving, we're going to be filthy coming down the stretch.

Yeah they are loaded, along with Elder, Allard, Dodd, Smith-Shawver, Shuster, even Anderson, you would think someone is going to be involved in a trade soon.

Man, was coming in from the beach to catch the start of the game yesterday, turn the tv on in the first and it’s already 5-0 with no outs. Eury perez hadn’t given up a run in 21 straight innings and gave up 6 getting just 1 out vs. the braves! They are red hot right now, don’t be late for the start of the game, their first inning stats are crazy!

There was some question about whether the Marlins were ready to challenge ATL. This weekend has answered that with zero doubt. This division is the Braves’.

Will be interesting how post season plays out. Last year was a dud which can often happen in playoff baseball. Seems there is always a "hot" team at end of regular season that causes problems with the prohibited favorite.

That’s the nature of the beast. Which is why I feel like baseball, more so than the other major sports, shouldn’t be judged as heavily on solely championships. Over the grind of a 162 game season sometimes the regular season is more impressive than a shorter postseason run. Obviously, the Braves were on the right end of this phenomenon just a couple years ago.

yeah, seems like they went into a little slump there at the end of the season, lus strider was coming off the oblique strain not a good combination against a red philly’s team!

Was happy to see my Astro's take Philly down.
It seems as of now, the Braves are the team to beat. They have all the qualities to be that team.
