An Irish blizzard maybe, but not an African blizzard, that’s my point.3 inches is considered sizable? Is this an Irish blizzard?
SnowflakesSeriously??? 3 inches of snow???? Times sure have changed. 3 inches of snow in state college years ago would barely garner a yawn.
My daughter's last final was yesterday afternoon and we picked her up right after. She was very happy to get home and feels bad for those that got boned.Could be a real bummer for some kids. The finals scheduled for Thursday were moved to Friday and one on Saturday. I can imagine that some aren't excited about a Friday night final at 9:00 PM or a Saturday morning final at 8:00 AM. We live in State College and have had all sleet so far. We have 2+ inches of sleet and haven't seen any vehicle on the street other than a borough truck with a plow.

I was there from 81-85 and I think the one time classes were cancelled because of a snow storm was my sr. year and It might have been around st. patricks day.I live in State College and it currently looks to be raining and the temperature is just above freezing. I remember classes being canceled one time and that was during an 18" snow storm. I also remember almost everyone being gone the 2nd half of finals week except for me. I always seemed to have a "bleeping" last day final.
These students would have never made it trying to cross Old Parking lot 80 in Jan. or Feb.
OOf. Thats how I used to go back and forth from Penn State and home. 219, and 22 and then up Bald Eagle Mt. and that area from Cresson Mt. through Ebensburg was always rough in the winter. Hell Cresson Mt. was rough in June.ONly time I ever remember classes being canceled was during break between, I think, Dec 95 and jan 96 when 20+inches of snow came in on Sunday. I waiting until the last minute to drive up from WPA that Sunday where we hadn't had that much but as I drove up 22 it was getting bad. I stopped in Ebensbug for a bite and they looked at me like I was crazy. GUess they had closed down everything north of there and I had to stay in a hotel for a night until they could open 22 back up. PSU closed for that MOnday
Work takes me through that area at times. It's a different world up there from November through March.OOf. Well that must have been the storm then since your years pretty much coincide with mine.I was there from 81-85 and I think the one time classes were cancelled because of a snow storm was my sr. year and It might have been around st. patricks day.
Feet! You had feet?Back in my day we used to go to class in 6 feet of snow and 155 mph winds, barefoot, uphill both ways. We'd die of exposure, revive ourselves, and keep walking, because we weren't soft. Kids these days!
I was there during that time frame. I don't remember any particular real bad storms (not saying they didn't happen .. I just don't remember the weather from that time, generally), but I do remember on one occasion that I believe was during finals, we had a snow storm, and my exam wasn't cancelled ... I had to drive from an off campus apartment and try to make it up a swerving hill, I think on University Drive ... my car started to slow down as it lost traction, and then started fishtailing all over. Luckily, there was a side street on my side of the road and I was able get control of the car enough to pull into it and off the hill, as others were sliding going down the hill, too. I didn't attempt going back up the hill ... I turned around and didn't go to my final. I can't recall what happened, other than I must have been allowed to make up the final at a later date.ONly time I ever remember classes being canceled was during break between, I think, Dec 95 and jan 96 when 20+inches of snow came in on Sunday. Actually, town is pretty emptied out already. Many classes now don't have final but final papers or projects or the final can be taken online. So many of the students have left prior to the snow."...feels bad for those that got boned."
I suspect there's a lot of that going on at PSU today with classes being cancelled. Just say'n.
Dorms at this time:"...feels bad for those that got boned."

Same here - we had no problem walking to the bars though - good times!Well that must have been the storm then since your years pretty much coincide with mine.

I recall Super Bowl Sunday that year the temp was -17F and classes were held as normal Monday AM.
Probably trying to avoid one of the drivers I described. It was a tractor trailer on its side
