You're kidding right? There were plenty on this board who wanted to fire Lamont and Ray after last year and after men's hoops lost to Clemson this year. A decent sized portion of the USC fan base are morons.
And if Paris does not build a consistent winner, many of the same people who said "pay the man" will blame Tanner for the extension.

Go Gamecocks! Go Coach Paris!

I’ll be interested to see the buyout language. No coach should have a fully guaranteed contract…at least until they have a NC ring.

Call it the vocal minority, but there were plenty on this board that said as much.
Thus, my street ball comments after every win. I remember those comments so well because they really pissed me off. People won’t let it touch them now though.

I'm responding to the poster who said there were PLENTY of people arguing that we should have fired him after last season.

Just a straight up lie.
Generally ir's 4/5 of the posters who simply post the same rant over and over and get several "new members" to join them. Most people say nothing. So it does seem like "a lot." Since I am on TIF more often, that's my experience over there.

I think everyone wanted Miller. And it’s natural to have viewed LP as a step down from potentially hiring Sean Miller. LP has us in a much better place right now than Miller has Xavier.
What's Miller thinking these days? I'm now glad he turned us down to return to Xavier. I suspect he is now 2nd guessing himself.

Guys I don't think it matters who was approving or disapproving of the Paris hire. I was initially for Sean Miller. Yet after Lamont was hired, reviewing what he did at Chattanooga as Head Coach and that he was an assistant to Bo Ryan at Wisconsin, I became enthusiastic about the hire and stated so.

Similarly, I was vehemently against and critical of the Beamer hire. But I stated that I support Shane and hope he succeeds. However I cannot say that I was enthusiastic about the hire afterwards, certainly not like I was about Lamont. What gave me some hope about Shane (and still gives me hope) is that he is Frank's boy. As I said above, I believe Lamont will take the men's basketball program to an elite level. I hope in the next couple of years I will say the same about Shane and our football program.

Going to lunch.
Agree. If you are looking for a coach, you can do a LOT worse than hiring a long-term Bo Ryan assistant.

It was good timing by RT to wait until now, I’ll give him credit for that. This should be very good for recruiting and let’s see what happens. He built this year’s team from very little and will have to go get a few bigs from the portal for next year. This puts him in a great position to do just that, and, by the way, his long term recruiting looks pretty good at this point. It’s a business move and at this point LP is a hot commodity. I like this all the way around.

I didn't want Miller. My favorite basketball moments of that year were as follows.

1a- Martin firing
1b- Martin firing
1c- Martin firing
2- CLP hiring

Not about firing Martin? I begged for his firing for multiple years.
When we first hired LP, I didn't know anything about him and was skeptical. When I heard speak for the first time and did my research, I was fairly certain we had our guy. As I have said in the past, he had me at hello. My support never wavered last year.

When I said everyone wanted Miller I meant when it seemed apparent he was going to be our coach. Not instead of LP.
