Bruce is touring again? Will you be going to see him?

I've got great memories of seeing Springsteen in Rec Hall in 1976(?), and I can't see potentially ruining that memory by watching an old broken down edition of what I remember perform for multiples of what the upcoming performance is likely worth......

His shows on this tour have been great as usual. Not sure where the political bashing comes from but I've been to many of his concerts and political lecturing has not been part of any ... he is there to entertain and make it a memorable evening.

For $500+ and a large fee to Ticketmaster you can get to hang with Bruce. Meanwhile hypocritical Bruce just shrugs his shoulders and says “hey we are just doing what everyone else is doing”…a true man of the people.

I love Bruce, but my concerts this year are Chris Stapleton & George Straight in Denver and Tyler Childers at Merriweather Post in Columbia MD.

I saw Chris Stapleton last August. I had never heard his music but I became a fan quickly. He’s great.

Yes, have been a huge fan since his first album came out. Saw him in Hershey last year. My wife is more pop country but she loved him as well. Can’t wait until June to see him and George Straight…

We were probably at the same show then if you saw him in Hershey last year.

Just an FYI, two postponements of shows two days in a row due to “illness” let’s hope all is ok for next weekend.

IMHO, the full E Street band ceased to exist when Clarence died. The man had a huge presence on stage, literally and figuratively. I'm sure whoever replaced him is very talented but there's no way it can be the same.
Clarence’s nephew Jake replaced the big man in 2012. Same hulking presence, he does a nice job.
I have tickets for Bruce in Wrigley Field in August.

Apparently for the first time in six years. He plays the Wells Fargo Center in Philly on March 16, and the BJC on March 18. Winds it up at the Prudential Center in Newark on April 14 before heading to London. I am disappointed he won't be making any appearances in California. Oh well ...

Here's a link to his tour schedule:

Yes, great show. Lots of fun. I had not realized that Paul Shaffer was touring with them.

One of my favorite drummers is Max Weinberg. As he gets older, to me he looks like someone who just left an 8 hour Board meeting and decided to blow off steam by jamming with a local rock'n'roll band downtown. He is fun to watch.
Jake fills his Uncle's shoes very well. (edited)

Generally an 'older' crowd, but not exclusively. PSU great and now football staffer Dan Connor and his wife sat directly in front of us.
Wifey just had cataract surgery - one eye a week prior, the other the Thursday before the concert. She needed drops while at the concert. No biggie. We were enjoying chatting with the strangers who sat next to us, about our age, when suddenly the guy pulls out an eye drop bottle and gives himself a drop in preparation for his eye surgery this week! We laughed about it, and I said well, we ain't sharing joints anymore, now maybe we should just figure on sharing eye drops among the cataract crowd!

I've never been one for buying T-shirts and other merch at concerts, but the $50+ T-shirt prices have clinched that no go decision for me.

Clarence is Jake’s uncle. And I’m pretty sure Paul Schaefer is not touring with Bruce.

Yes, Jake is his nephew. My brain fart.

Paul or his doppleganger was with Bruce et. al. on Saturday. Maybe I need cataract surgery. Others in attendance - didn't Bruce introduce him?

On piano was longtime E Street band member Roy Bittan. The other keyboard player was Charlie Giordiano. Bittan is clean shaven, like Shaffer, but he has a goatee. Perhaps an “acid flashback” from the 70’s? o_O :p

It’s Roy Bittan on piano, who could look a bit like Schaefer with the same “hairdo”. Charlie Giordano on organ. I honestly don’t know everybody else touring with him these days though. I think there are about 18 of them now.

Thanks - I happily stand corrected. There were a number of folks commenting on it, so the goatee went unnoticed by a bunch of us. And we weren't all that far away.
I should have verified before posting, but then again, what fun would that be?

Obviously I needed some magic eye drops of my own!

Yes, it seems Bruce as expanded the brass section since last we saw him.

Great show on Saturday night! Went with my sister - who saved a ticket for me for a 1981 Byrne Arena show; long overdue payback for her. The E Street Band was jamming and tight!!! And yes I got suckered into buying a $50 t-shirt and a $5 koozie!

Until I got to the bottom of your post, I was thinking, "man, he is doing PBP for Bruce too!"

Think I'll stand down with a donation to Springsteen for $1600 BUCKS and contribute our annual $2500 gift to the Levi Lamb Fund directing the contribution distributed to all Penn State athletes. More bang for the buck.

The Columbus show has been rescheduled for September. We looked at tix for the original show--briefly--but had other scheduled events that night. Not sure about September, yet. We did get to see Genesis in their farewell tour last year, and it was pretty good. In that case, we ended up getting our seats bumped down from the upper to the lower bowl. Helps to know an usher.... Also saw ELO, which was a lot of fun. I'd seen them in 1978, which an exchange student from Penn State to Cologne (no saucer stage set though, as that was only on the US part of the tour).
