An SEC football team in the modern era lost to Maine at home. That is worse.
Yea, but that was an absolutely horrible football team that was in deep with years of bad recruiting and NCAA probation. Season wasn’t going to be much better even with a win. And Maine is still several notches above SWAC level in athletics. This is about as devastating as it gets for a single game result in MSU sports. Saying our NCAA hopes are completely done is not hyperbole at all.

Hell, we’ve lost basketball games to SWAC teams pretty regularly in the past 10 years. They showed highlights during today’s game of our loss to Southern in 2015.

Outscored 15-2 down the stretch by a SWAC team. Makes that GA Tech loss look like a good one for sure now....

This is certainly one of the worst losses in MSU athletics history, no doubt. But you play almost 30 basketball games vs. 11 football games (at the time). Croom had Sherrill's leftovers there, too. Should have been enough to squeeze out a win over Maine.

Glad to see you are back here and off that pesky bandwagon. I usually wait here and you are always welcome. We wait until January to even start getting slighty excited. February is usually when we get reday to get on board so we have been waiting since Stansbury left for Clemson. We have not seen any signs of any other teams getting up to that level since then. Oh… we might see a good player or two ever so often but nothing has happened during Postseason in quite some time.

To be honest with you, the game changed and I think we are way behind as a program. If we are ever going to get quality players and enjoy success again then we need a good coach who can build something new.

You’re welcome to jump on board when the wagon comes back.

That was Year 1 post-Rick Ray when the program was in awful shape. Today we were a Top 25 team coming off an NCAAT appearance with a better roster this year.

Any team and coach that have DJ Jeffries starting and finishing games is crappy. I saw this coming back in early November when State kept trotting that guy out there. He couldn't start for a Rick Ray team. Yet Jans keeps putting him out there. And if y'all think Tolu is going to just trot out there against SEC opponents in January and dominate after this long layoff, I don't know what to tell you. In fact, he is probably going to come along slowly playing about 20 minutes and then will likely do some coasting to protect his European Future!

People still talk about the Maine game. This one MIGHT still be a thing this time next year.
