Not surprising and good for her - but weird timing on the announcement? It's her prerogative, I just don't understand the decision to do it mid-season.

Does this happen often where a female bb player leaves college early to enter the pros? Uncommon? I wasn't aware this was done. I mean it's all good... just news to me. Disclaimer- I don't always know when guys leave either. I don't tend to follow anyone when the decide to leave college.

She's not leaving early. Just not taking the 5th COVID year.

Good for her. My daughter loves her, in spite of the last Final Four. She is a great talent and will do well marketing the women's game. I used to belittle the WNBA, but my daughter is all in on basketball. I started watch games and the women's game is actually basketball the way it was meant to be played. More actual offensive plays, backdoor cuts, etc... The men's game is all about one on one iso plays. I watch both, but it has been great teaching my daughter the game.

I’d rather play in front of raucous, sold out arenas than the sad WNBA crowds. The very best the WNBA has to offer can't compete with Clark plays in front of on a regular basis.

I know what you mean about the men’s game in general, but…Our men’s team has had a few games where nearly every basket had an assist. That’s fun to watch, and way more “basketball” than a lot of teams play. That last pass against ATM was a thing of beauty with 3 seconds left in a tied game.

I read where her nil was nearly one million a year in college. Her salary will be like 100k.... I guess maybe she has endorsements lined up? A dude on the radio sounded like she's taking a paycutt to go. Anyone know if that's accurate?

Makes no sense. Go pro for a serious pay cut? Women’s college basketball, for the best players, is way more lucrative than the WNBA.

Caitlin is going pro as she wants to stay in the Midwest where her fan base is. Yes, she has fans nationally but Indiana, who has the #1 pick, is much closer to her IOWA home and is in B10 Country.

Her endorsements will outweigh any possible salary she would get from a WNBA team. She alone will raise interest in the WNBA games. Every personality you hear on the radio or TV has said pretty much the same thing, she is single handedly caused TV viewership to go up and arena's wherever she plays to sellout.

I saw the interview Holly Rowe (ESPN) did. She was in Minneapolis the other nite for her game against Minnesota and the crowd was majority IOWA. She talked to people who made the trip from other parts of the country to see Caitlin play. She will go down as the BIGGEST influencer of Women's Basketball in America at any level for generations to come.

I don’t follow either sport, aside from what I pick up peripherally from following sports in general. However, the ladies college game just seems to be way more exciting and entertaining. I never hear anybody ever talk about the WNBA ever. And I live in a town with a WNBA team.

It's 100% inaccurate. Aliyah Boston has said she's made way more money since going pro. All your endorsements stay plus you get more endorsements and the salary on top of that.

Former WNBA players are openly talking crap about Caitlin. Clark cannot save a league that does not think it needs saving. They exist solely because the men’s NBA allows them to.

Jealously will always rear it's ugly head. I think you may find this read from the Minneapolis Newspaper interesting.

Dear Caitlin Clark … (startribune.com)

Clark maybe what saves the WNBA. This one woman has more influence than all the women on all the teams in the WNBA combined.

People come from all over the nation and pay big bucks to see Clark play. Just google Holly Rowe with ESPN and look at her latest interview where she talks about her experience at IOWA games she's covered.
