Am I really upset when we lose out on a highly rated prospect who chooses a school based on how much he'll have to compete for the starting job? Just looks to me like work ethic is lacking and he's more interested in having fun. We have a blue-chip redshirt freshman who by all accounts will be ready to take the field next fall and may break the records Fant and Madkin set over the next four years.

That being said, I wish Newton well. By "well" I mean "gets his *** whooped by McPhee next September."

It's great that we have TR and we made it thru a season without having to burn his redshirt. However you have to wonder how this whole saga affects Mullen on the recruiting trail as well as gameplanning the future of the program. You can't convince me that Mullen didn't have he who shall remain nameless penciled in as the starter for the next 2 years, especially with him being an MSU lean pretty much since Mullen was hired.

yea I`m sure he`s lost some recruits but this one had to be big for Dan personally.

Dan has been a coach too long. Not saying we are disappointed, no one more than him I am sure. On another note, he wouldn't have even been talking to us, if it wasn't for him. In the long run, he will win more of those battles than he loses. With Russell and Relf, plus walk-on that played pro baseball, we will be fine. We need to go after a stud QB next year for sure... We need OL help immediately.
