Bottom Line: GG is young. Needs a lot of work on his shot. Can rim protect a bit and run the floor. His game is not necessarily a great fit with Carolina's needs, so his impact may not be earth-shattering.

I don't keep up with basketball recruiting much and haven't seen much of GG's highlights. The ones I did see were of him dunking.

We'll be interesting, at least for awhile. Relevance will probably have to wait.

Yea, this is what I got from that. His outside shot is developing, but far from developed. His inside game is good because he has a high motor (leading to lots of rebounds and put backs). However, his inside scoring game (if you threw it down to him in the post) is developing, but far from developed. Essentially he's not a "go to" scorer yet on any level - which is why it will be hard for him to make USC relevant on the court next season. They were thinking he was decent on the dribble drive when catching up high though.

I think the rest of the team is actually the big question mark. No one knows what any of them can really do. If a couple of guys can step up and be decent scorers, GG could have a major impact by playing his game (running the floor, put backs, rebounding). And then once he's comfortable he can keep adding to his game. Ideally by the end of the year he ends up as someone who could be a lottery pick with just one more year of seasoning, and in the weight room, and working on his outside shot. Bring back a piece like that, and you can find some scorers in the portal that want to team up with him.

He can make us relevant if his commitment results in more big commitments soon.
As I said, relevance will probably have to wait. He'll be leaving when they are arriving. Talent acquisition is now like a leaky tire. You have to keep it pumping on it constantly to keep it inflated. To get there, we probably need about three classes, each with more talent than the previous one. It's going to be an arduous climb and a tedious re-recruiting process.
