The 5-7 scenario 10/23 - On3
I'm curious enough to track who is in line for a bowl bid if they finish 5-7. Remember, it's based on APR. There are basically nine teams ahead of us. First post was here: https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/bowl-chances-at-5-7.1123980/ Here's the latest. Projections based on Warren Nolan...
It's based on grades. If there are not enough teams that are at least 6-6 to fill all bowls slits than the 5-7 team with the highest APR gets to go.
The year we got in the St Petersburg bowl only happened because Vandy beat Tennessee
that year and was then 6-6 for the year.

Imagine being a bowl rep and telling your TV partners..."We got Mississippi State. They are absolutely electric. Should make for great TV."
It's hard for me to imagine this situation when I think about the team that went 7-5 in 1997 and could not go to a bowl.
Bowls that did not start as one of the originals does not count to me. They have almost become a participation trophy. I know it's a minority opinion and I'm not trying to convince anyone... JMO.

That team was 7-4. It'd be the equivalent of 8-4 with today's scheduling models.
