They're always fighting for the playoffs until the end. This year there might be a week or two with a dead season and some time for people to really complain about things.

The nfl is an offensive league now. If you do not have a quarterback, you don’t have a chance unless your offensive line is just that good that you can still run the ball and have a Trent dilfer type quarterback make enough throws. I’m not sure if Pickett is accurate enough to do that though.

The offensive line is still one of the bottom dozen in the league, even with the rookie tackle playing well, and Harris is not a starting running back in this league. Warren is better. As tempting as it would be to draft a quarterback, I’m not sure that’s their best option next year. They need more help on the offensive line and some linebackers and safeties who can cover tight ends.

Ah, it's for football reasons.....I get it. Tomlin fan but Steelers need a reset; he needs to go (Hey Harbaugh - wanna play your brother twice a year??).

Thought everyone was upset about this:

That’s why Warren should be the starter and play the majority of the snaps.
That would help but when you have the owner/HC stuck in 2008 don't expect much of a change in the standings/playoffs.

Every year the guy under achieves and yet the Steelers keep him. Another end of year losing streak. How wonderful.
Who are you to criticize this coach? Since when have you ever been a football coach?

He is a fine representative of the team. I personally saw him at an event and he was quite impressive.

Besides, you are only a fan. Just because you buy tickets and merch and pay taxes to fund the debt that paid for the stadium the the Steelers play in, you have no right to have an opinion. You should just shut up and take the .500 record he gives you for his $11.5 million salary.

What do you expect? Playoffs? It is not like he has been a coach for ten years and never taken his team to the playoffs. Sure he has a bad season half the time, but the other times he does win. Be happy with that.

This will be fun to watch...........

Suspended for the season. That seems a bit extreme.

Especially since Runyon is the one that gave the punishment considering he was thought to be one of the dirtier players during his time.

Can you imagine if Cowher was the coach? He’d have Pickens by the facemask and throw him into the stands
If so, he would have Pickett by the face mask for all the erratic throws, Trubisky for throwing it to the other team, Harris for constantly missing the hole, Johnson for drops and lack of effort, the OL for not being nasty enough, whoever is calling the plays for being too conservative, etc. etc. Pickens is singled out because he speaks up, but he isn’t wrong. They aren’t using him right and the offense sucks. I understand his frustration.

I don't watch much NFL, but sort of know what's going on. Seems Tomlin has sort of run his course in Pittsburgh (said from afar).

Is there a chance that McSorley actually gets elevated from the PS either by attrition or bad play by the end of the season? I have no idea how long Pickett is going to be out. Did they sign him just for NE's tendencies (which didn't work)?

You are right. Tomlin has run its course. However, the Rooneys don’t fire coaches, so I don’t expect anything to change. No, I don’t expect McSorely to play outside of multiple injuries occurring

Tomlin’s contract is up at the end of next year right? My guess is they won’t renew.

They should fire him now. A lame duck coach is the worst position to be in. It sets him and the team up for another bad/wasted year. And if they do find middling success, then you’re over a barrel in having to extend him long term.

Don’t disagree but not their style.

To add more to my previous post:

It was a terrible decision to hire Canada; he's a lightweight. When he was retained this year it sent a signal of mediocrity. The offense is lacking in overall talent, but it does have some high-end guys. They heard this signal and they've responded to it. Now that the hack is gone, they're down a man and it shows. It's all cascading into a wave of laziness and incompetence now.

The lesson is that stubbornly sticking with bad decisions makes you look like an idiot and people lose respect. That's where we find ourselves.

Everyone knows it was idiotic to keep that bum OC, so now everyone knows Tomlin makes idiotic decisions.

I've felt the same way about the Steelers for many years as I do now. I don't know who to hire to fix this, but it's a mess.
Clean house and bring in an tough offensive minded head coach like Bienemy for this group of players.

"One of the biggest things he talked about with us is just communicating," Washington receiver Jahan Dotson said. "We can go to him; his door's always open. That's what you want in a coach, a guy who listens, a guy who acts upon the things you asked for. He's helping us get to where we want to be."

Bieniemy does not discriminate about which players he barks at during practice. In the spring, he chastised receiver Jahan Dotson, a 2022 first-round pick. But he also pulled him aside and relayed how good he thought Dotson could become. When the offense has a strong series, Bieniemy is the first to greet the players coming off the field while yelling, "Good s---!"

Based on my limited knowledge, Bieniemy would be a great choice. Given enough time I would have brought up his name.

I wish the Steelers would have hired Tom Allen as OC so they'd have someone who could scream in the players faces when they act like entitled shitheels.

"I don't want to get injured". Dude should get injured by fans next time he shows his face in public. You couldn't say a worse thing as a Steeler.
