to Cleveland

They got a minor leaguer named Luis Perdomo who throws in the mid-90's with a slider and a change up and has an ERA of 1.52 between high A and AA. He also has more K's than innings pitched. Perdomo is going to AA Springfield, so it will probably be a couple of years before he gets a shot at the Big Leagues. AND the Cardinals also got cash.

Wish Reyes well with Cleveland/Buffalo. I'm glad that he helped them win the WS in 06 with his Game 1 performance, maybe now he can become a solid big league starter.

Hope he goes on to win 20 games a year for them. It has been obvious for over a year that a change of scenery had to happen. Its too bad, dude throws a one-hitter against Chi-sox, wins world series game and then all the sudden he looses confidence in himself and the organization looses confidence in him. Maybe the reliever will be able to help the Cards late next season or 2010.

Carp sounds pretty good. (Knock on wood) Plus, Wainwright should be back in August for a series against the Cubs, if he continues to heal well.

A rotation of a healthy Carpenter, Wainwright, and Lohse sounds pretty good, and then you have Looper and Piniero/Wellenmeyer at the back of the rotation. That's pretty solid. All they need to do is trade for a closer, and they'll be in great shape. I still say they should try Wellenmeyer as the closer when Carp and Wainwright come back. I've seen him throw 97 as a starter and he has a great slider. I think he could be pretty good in that role.

Should be just a two team race between the Cards and the Brewers. We have to sacrifice a goat on the infield and let some black cats screw in the bleachers to end this curse.

because last I heard Wainwright said him going to the bullpen "was out of the question".

Maybe I'm taking that comment the wrong way.

I think if he couldn't crack a pedestrian rotation that includes Wellemeyer, Looper, and Piniero, he will never be more than a journeyman middle reliever in the big leagues.

And there were a lot of bad outings between those two games you referred to.

The Cardinals thought so much of him that they practically gave him away.

The Cardinals need another bat as much as they need a closer. Pujols had a good night tonight but he is getting nothing to hit because of the people around him.

They need another middle infielder who has some power. Unfortunately, I don't think that there's anyone like that on the market.

Ludwick, Ankiel, and Glaus aren't all that bad though. But you're right, they still need more.

Also, speaking of having a good night, Skip Schumaker had six hits tonight.

....mountain of hope built up until the Cubs start folding. What's gotta sting more is that it's the Brewers of all teams that are going to likely burn their *** this time, along with the Cards maybe.

Ooh, I think I just saw Bartman walking his pet Billy Goat down my street. Gotta run..........
