Not to prolong this discussion, but this seems very positive in the short term. From the City of Jackson...

"The O.B. Curtis Water Plant made significant gains overnight and into this morning. There are some challenges remaining to navigate over the next few days, but the outlook for today is currently continued progress.

Over half of the tanks on the surface system have begun filling back up. Others will make gains as we progress. Many areas throughout Jackson now have some pressure. Areas closer to the plant are experiencing almost normal pressure. Areas further from the plant and at higher elevations are still experiencing low to no pressure. This pressure will improve as the tank levels increase.

The total plant output has increased to 78 PSI. The goal on the surface system is 87 PSI.

There are still challenges to navigate as the intake water source changes chemistry again. Operator schedules have been adjusted to increase coordination between shifts.

We have also been working diligently on the plant assessment and have begun initial projects to increase the stability of the system. This initial work includes a series of repairs and equipment adjustments on site. We have also sourced additional chemicals to have some better ability on site to contend with the changing intake water chemistry.

We have multiple contractors on site doing assessment work today. With the support of our partners at the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Department of Health, we are also sourcing immediate staffing support including operators and maintenance staff. We have also begun the process of expediting some of the projects that were already being planned. These items each will contribute significantly to the stability of the OB Curtis plant.

The EPA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have also joined us on site today. The Joint Incident Command team continues to work collaboratively and is in close coordination."

Problem is Jackson water infrastructure is a whole dumpster fire and needs this level of statewide attention for a year or more to get Jackson propped back up and a working infrastructure and the clowns that run Jackson need to be told to sit down, shut up, and let the grown ups that know what they are doing fix the **** hole that is Jackson.

There have been office bldgs downtown that haven't had water above the 5th floor for a couple months. There have been porta potties in the parking lots for same period of time. Now that the city employees have been basically booted out, progress is being made. Amazing how that happens huh?

Not to mention, "Who is paying for all this effort?" Evidently, the people using the water don't for the most part.

Side question about this, seeing how the state has stepped in and restored order - how in the holy hell can ANYONE truly believe that this is the doing of Tate Reeves or the State? They have saved the day, doing the city a huge favor. It's all over Facebook and Twitter (I know, I know). NOT ONE SINGLE BIT OF BLAME for Chockwe Jr. It's truly unbelievable. There are articles being written about how this happens under Republican policies when it was absolutely the result of Democratic policies in the City of Jackson.

How is the lack of intellect not understood? How can anyone NOT comprehend that Mississippi's struggles are a hundred years old (much of that time under yellow dog democrat ruling) and that the state isn't poor because of Republican leadership?

Tate Reeves has done an outstanding job of governor, considering the hellish nightmares he's been faced with as far as disasters, COVID and now this water situation. I was not a fan of him when he came into office, though I did vote for him. But I'm a fan now.

Our national stupidity is ALARMING. Rant over.

This isn't Taters fault, but Tater is one of the most corrupt governors we've seen in a long time. He's assisted in robbing the state of funds multiple times.

Maybe the state should do for the capital buildings what the hospitals have done. Dig a well and build their water tower. Get off the City Water System. It works for them. St Dominic has it's own water system and I believe the University does as well. Maybe Jackson State should look into it. My company looked into it about 4 years ago. From what I heard it would cost a little over 1 million dollars for one well and tower. At the time it looked like Jackson was trying to fix the issue but it has not been fixed.

Well, a lot of people blaming republicans are extremely, extremely racist. Take this person: https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opini...because-our-state-legislature-has-ncna1259819

Her working assumption is apparently that black people are incapable of being government leaders and therefore if white people don't come in and take care of things for them, it's white people's fault. It's pretty disgusting but it's apparently not an uncommon position.
