This was what was expected the entire time. Could’ve had Lamb in Oxnard. Just 17’ing dumb.
They don't care about winning. Cowboys and their top players only care about money at the end of the day. That's just how jones works. They prefer to make as much money as they can in regular season and watch playoffs from their favorite vacation spot

This should bode well for both Dak's net worth and his numbers the next few years. Makes zero sense to pay up for a high level WR unless you're positive you also have a high level QB locked up.

Then Dak will have to take less money than he could get

Very true. Newsflash, NFL owners, coaches, and GM’s….you’re always going to have to pay them whatever the hell they ask. There is no negotiation. Just go ahead and do it so they can actually be in camp.

Or you could be the packers. Not pay devonta adams and have it worked out very well for you.

Good organizations dont pay anyone whatever they want.... matter of fact two of the best run orgs in the league Pitt and New England-- hardly ever do that... throw in seattle as well

Lamb was always part of both the near and long term future with Dallas... his contract was always going to happen. Regardless of who the QB is... the WR part was going to happen and they dont run hand in hand with Dak or the QB..

Minnesota signed Jefferson and dont have a top tier proven QB, same can be said about Miami paying for Hill for Tua.... sometimes having a true stud as a WR1 can attract a proven QB or help the development of a younger QB, doesnt have to be the other way around.

Man, you literally have to be trolling at this point.

Packers with Devonta Adams:
84-44
5 division titles
4 NFC championship appearances

Packers without Devonta Adams:
17-17
0 Division titles
0 NFC championship appearances

So, if by “not paying Devonta Adams” you are referring to trading him to the Raiders, I see no way how that worked out “extremely well” for them in any sense, based on current evidence. And by the way, the Packers DID pay Devonta Adams. Gave him what was at the time a max money deal for 2017-2021. Franchise tagged him in 2022, then traded him, but were prepared to pay him for another year if no trade happened.

They also just gave Jordan Love, who has done absolutely nothing, a max deal too. So saying the Packers don’t pay their guys is just silly.

Good organizations dont pay anyone whatever they want.... matter of fact two of the best run orgs in the league Pitt and New England-- hardly ever do that... throw in seattle as well

Pitt payed Big Ben and AB max money when needed. They’ve also given huge contracts to lots of defensive players over the years. They didn’t pay Le’Veon Bell because they aren’t idiots like Jerry and friends were with Zeke, but they have always paid the guys who earned it.

NE paid Moss, Brady, Gronk, and others as well. They’ve also been smart about not overpaying for players who are replaceable.

Key point though, is that neither of those teams has done a damn thing since losing their HOF quarterbacks. Whatever they are doing right now isn’t exactly a shining example of anything positive, regardless of whether is mismanagement or just bad luck in drafting and evaluation. I could count on 2 fingers (Rhamondre, Pickens) the number of skill position players on both of those teams put together that would definitely start on most of the 12-15 NFL teams that are considered contenders in 2024. Cupboard is pretty bare…..neither has had anyone on offense worth giving a max deal to in quite some time. Not at the skill positions anyways.

God youre an idiot.

your judging the packers deal based on how they did 2 seasons after... what the packers did was refuse to pay an aging vet leaving their prime an insane contract just because he wanted it. Adams had his worst seasons in terms in his last 5 years last season... and the packers NOT paying Adams is and was without a doubt a great decision.

All the examples you mentioned are comical. Pitt didnt pay Bell who at the time was the best RB in football. Big Ben was always paid under his market except for 1 season and it was a short contract, nothing close to max deal or value. Same for NE, Gronk, Moss, and a host of other players were always under paid and never got max deals under NE. Throw seattle in that same mix.

Your just like to spitball and throw out things that are some comically wrong. The ol just go ahead and pay them because they are going to get what they are wanting... is one of the more stupider things youve said.. and you say a lot of them.... well run organziations pay players what works in the paramenter of them being successful. San Fran is in the midst of doing this with players too...

Thet way jones handled the lamb situation was 100% fine. Lamb wasnt going to hold out, the cowboys paid him and locked up a WR1 during this prime years for what will be a good price for both sides. No damage done. Everyone is happy.

I always appreciate that validation coming from you. I’d be very worried about my intelligence and my stance if you ever thought anything else.

your judging the packers deal based on how they did 2 seasons after...

Uh yes? Because Adams on a team that has had no alpha WR1 these past 2 seasons might have made a huge difference?

what the packers did was refuse to pay an aging vet leaving their prime an insane contract just because he wanted it.

Define “insane contract”. The price is the price. Nobody’s out there wildly overpaying for anyone. Next man up gets a little more money each time, but not much. Its fine if the Pack wanted to cash in and get younger, but its still a huge risk, and not at all one that you can point to anything that says it has paid off.

Adams had his worst seasons in terms in his last 5 years last season... and the packers NOT paying Adams is and was without a doubt a great decision.

Adams made the Pro Bowl in 2022 and led the league in TD’s despite horrible QB play. In 2023, he got a little banged up and had even worse QB play, yet still had around 1200 yds / 8 TD’s. He’s started 34 out of 34 games these past 2 years. Perhaps even more importantly, he’s still widely considered by other NFL WR’s as still being the most skilled WR in the NFL.

All the examples you mentioned are comical. Pitt didnt pay Bell who at the time was the best RB in football.

Because he was replaceable. I already said that, genius.

Big Ben was always paid under his market except for 1 season and it was a short contract, nothing close to max deal or value.
Wrong again.

Big Ben averaged being the 8th highest paid QB in the league from the beginning of his second contract until he retired. Was very well taken care of the entire time.

His last 9 years in the league, in which Pitt reached zero Super Bowls and just one AFC title game, he was the 6th highest paid on average.

In the 4 years of 2018-2021, Pitt never made it out of the Divisional round of the playoffs, Big Ben never made the Pro Bowl….well….he was still around 7th highest paid QB on average.

2021, he was the 6th highest paid QB in the league and was absolutely putrid.

Your just like to spitball and throw out things that are some comically wrong.
So I’m the one who does that….right.

Let’s see you back your dumb shít up with actual data for a change and maybe we’ll revisit this (or not).

The ol just go ahead and pay them because they are going to get what they are wanting... is one of the more stupider things youve said.. and you say a lot of them.

You said yourself that “CeeDee was always in the short term and long term plans for Dallas”. You said that. If you really and truly believe that, then why didn’t they give him his max contract 2 months ago and prevent a camp holdout / distraction? Jerry saved zero dollars by waiting. He still had to pay the max deal that Lamb wanted. It was never going to go any other direction. Dak will be no different. You simply have no leg to stand on. It’s dumb for owners and GM’s to drag out contract talks out of nothing more than hubris. Just pay them what you know you’re going to have to pay them, and get it done. There is nothing to gain from waiting, and much to potentially lose if it takes your stud players longer to get in game shape.

THAT is what orgs like Pitt, NE, etc. actually do. They don’t embrace the negotiating drama like these other teams.

well run organziations pay players what works in the paramenter of them being successful.
Well run organizations pay their best and most important players their market value to keep them. They ALWAYS keep their elite talent that they can expect to keep performing at a high level for at least 3-4 more years. They trade or let go those assets that they can’t reasonably expect to perform at the market price for 3-4 years.

Thet way jones handled the lamb situation was 100% fine. Lamb wasnt going to hold out,
He did hold out last I checked. Missed all of camp.

the cowboys paid him and locked up a WR1 during this prime years for what will be a good price for both sides. No damage done. Everyone is happy.
It’s not a “good price for both sides”. It’s the market price. You fail to understand that. He was ALWAYS going to get the market price. He got just barely under what Jefferson got 2 months ago, and Jefferson’s career production has been substantially better and more consistent. The entire NFLPA and their agents both have a stated goal of getting maximum contracts at each turn for deserving players, to keep the money moving up. It’s not a secret what the outcome will be each time a new player is hitting that 2nd contract.

1. from the guy that thought jake mangum threw right handed... i have no words

2. might have? certain didnt for the Raiders

3. the price isnt the price.. thats the funny thing. Good teams get players at the prices THEY want.

4. "he’s still widely considered by other NFL WR’s as still being the most skilled WR in the NFL."-- this is good. This is like your scouting take on Hunter Hines. widely considered the most skilled WR in the league. He's not even considered a top 3 WR in the league anymore. (Jeff, Lamb, Chase) All have those honors.. and he's likely be out of the top 5 after this season or shortly after the league starts with guys like St Brown and some others starting to emerge

5. Big Ben being paid at the 8th best QB in the league.. is underpaid.. for multiple super bowl winners and league MVPs

6. Jerry got nothing by waiting to sign lamb? You know this how? Maybe Lamb was waiting on a longer or bigger deal.. and when jerry didnt budge finally signed what Jerry had on the table. Very plausible. He didnt pay a max deal. He didnt go Jefferson money.

7. Star players hold out of camp every year. Last year it was chris jones. You also have other contract situations that havent been cleared up like Aiyuk. It happens. Part of football. Funny the cowboys are idiots, but the chiefs and 49ers arent

8. Yes star players NLFPA everyone wants to be paid.. paying isnt the deal.. its how to get paid and make the salary cap work. The good teams and well run organizations pay players what works for them.

How the cowboys handled lamb isnt a big deal. Keep in mind most of these stars dont want to be in camp... so for all we know this offer from jones could have very well been on the table for over a month. Lamb isnt the first or last player that will hold out and miss some camp time or even all of camp... Aiyuk has been in camp but hasnt practiced same for Chase. Happening all over the league.... yawn

Depends on how you define winning. If we say SB only which is what I care about then maybe you have an argument...BUT if you mean winning football games year in and year out look up the best NFL winning % over the last 10, 15, 20, 25 years and you'll be hard pressed to see Dallas outside the top 10....bet you didn't know that? Most haters don't they just repeat Jerah doesn't care about winning and only money.

If they pay Dak now, color me surprised.
They really have to right? Nobody on the roster justifies this kind of investment in a WR1 other than Dak. They can't trade for one that is just as good but cheaper and drafting a top 5 QB is a crap shoot much less counting on some late round rookie who may not be able to play in the NFL. Lastly, the Cowboys' last 1st round QB draft pick was Troy Aikman....they are just never in position to pick that high.

Except Dak has said he's not taking less and Belichek isn't his coach and Dallas never makes trades like NE. Oh, and Dak isn't Brady, no one is. Dak would have to take a huge loss with the cap Dallas is dealing with.

The only thing that matters is winning Super Bowl cowboys been hanging their hats on wins from almost 30 years ago. Haven't even made nfc championship much less Super Bowl. Regular season don't mean squat if you aren't making it to late playoffs at least a couple times in pass 10 years. You just pretender as being a winning franchise

Ha! I agree it's SB win. So when was your last SB win???

Who cares about any round of the playoff if you aren't hoisting up the Lombardi trophy at the end? Neither Late in the playoffs or early in the playoffs does anything for me I'm still going to be pissed if we aren't the last team standing. Yes, we haven't been the last team standing in decades but neither has your team (assuming you are a Niners fan) so take your consolation trophies for 2nd, 3rd, 4th whatever somewhere else.

Never said Dak was Brady as you said nobody is. Brady taking the discount contributed a lot to the Pats ability to maneuver and build a winner around him not to mention having the greatest defensive coach ever leading the other side of the ball.

You can hate on the Cowboys all you want plenty people do but wake me up when New England wins a SB without Brady and Belichick. They are back to being the lovable losers with the dude hiking the football on their helmet.

I actually like the cowboys and saints is the local team. I would say it means something to at least make nfc champ game. Only one team can win it all. The problem is the cowboys haven't made it past the second round in forever

Cowboys are playing off 90s nostalgia. Once that wears off they will be like the teams that haven't won a SB since the 70s and 80s. Boomers Gen X and Millenials all getting older. Who does Gen z find most popular. What about Gen Alpha and Beta. Probably Patriots for Gen Z and Chiefs for Gen Alpha and Beta. That's who the dynasties have been last 15 - 25 years.

Pretty much. Because they were the good team in the 90s always on tv. It made their fanbase huge with gen x and millennials as "americas team" same with Braves Cubs always on tv in the 90s

AI please summarize this thesis
It is never too early to hate on Green Bay! Go Bears!

The one thing I haven't heard is, what if the ball bounces differently and the Cowboys win the Super Bowl? God knows it ain't gonna happen, but what if it did?

I actually like the cowboys and saints is the local team. I would say it means something to at least make nfc champ game. Only one team can win it all. The problem is the cowboys haven't made it past the second round in forever
I could possibly be swayed to give you win conference championship but make it? I can't go that far.

Yep, beyond frustrating! You'd think staying in the top 10 winningest teams in the NFL over the last 2 decades would at least give you one or two appearances but that's what's the most frustrating. It's not like we've sucked and been picking in the top of the draft but it just hasn't translated.
