Watching the show now.

Kinda funny to see Oklahoma, at 9-0, ranked eighth. Also, Wisconsin and Auburn are getting a lot of love but no Penn State.

Here's what I don't get.

If you keep Penn State outside of the top-25, then what is the rationale for ranking Ohio State ahead of Cincinnati, Michigan, Oklahoma? Oh, I know! They ranked Minnesota 20th and OSU beat Minnesota. But in what world does anyone think Minnesota is top 20?

Fun to talk about but easy to say "these rankings suck."

What this means to me today:

1. 2 SEC teams are poised to get in. Alabama seems likely to be #4 even if they lose to UGA.

2. OU and Cincy need chaos.

3. When you lose and who you lose to is important (Wisky over us).

A few things

Oklahoma having tough games vs Tulane and Kansas killed their chances of getting in the top 4.
Cincinnati struggling vs Navy killed their chances.

Oklahoma has Baylor and Okie State left, so they have a shot to get in. Cincy is going to need a lot of help with their schedule.

Penn State not getting in is all on the Illinois loss. That loss was really really bad, especially since Illinois followed it with a loss to Rutgers.

This post recommends one thing, blow out bad teams.

These rankings are just all sorts of bad. Good grief. What the hell has Alabama done to be ranked 2? UM ahead of OU? If I'm the G5 commissioners I petition to get out of FBS and start our own division. What the heck is the point if a G5 team beat a top ten P5 team on the road, is undefeated, and can't even sniff the top 4?

I don't even care that PSU is unranked, but this is just ridiculous.

If we beat Maryland and Michigan, we skyrocket up. The Illinois loss is the difference in probably being 13-15 and unranked. Just how it is.
Likely. Because at that point I think the committee would probably have taken into account that we got derailed in the Iowa game by our starting QB being forced out of the game. With the loss to Illinois—it doesn't matter how injured Clifford was playing—it threw any talk about what happened in Iowa out the window.

I love reading Twitter comments…one person justified Wisconsin over Penn State due to playing a common opponent and beating Iowa…guess they forgot about that week one game.

It's a bit of "what have you done for me lately". PSU lost three in a row, and it looks like that's factoring heavily with the pollsters despite having beaten Wisky and Auburn earlier. I'm not saying I agree with it...

If OU wins out, they are a lock to be in. It doesn’t matter what rankings are this week.

WF could put a potential test to the system. Could an unbeaten P5 team be left out when there aren’t 4 other P5 unbeaten?

Potential conundrum with UO and tOSU. Head to head or overall SOS. I’d go with SOS (which is only going to get a bigger gap).

If this was end of season, would probably give a little care about UW ranked as opposed to PSU. They’ve both had 4 harder opponents. The thing is, none of UW’s has been in a road game. PSU has 3 of them already.

The invitational needs to end and the ability to play in, outlined before the first snap of the year, created.

A three game losing streak, including a home loss to a bad Illinois team. The committee is correct not having Penn State ranked. The most important game for the program is Saturday. Penn State cannot afford a loss to Maryland. It's a must win for all involved.

Two SEC teams set to get in is why they want to expand playoffs.

Bama, Ga, Cincy, OSU.

I guess the playoff committee didn’t consider Cliffords injury in the losses to Iowa and Illinois

thankfully the weather Saturday seems to be decent as of right now. Sleepy performances often seem to go hand in hand with dismal weather.

Penn State likely will finish the season unranked.

It's also a 3:30 kickoff instead of noon. But if you want to be elite the kickoff time isn't relevant, the weather isn't relevant. You also have a a back-up QB you have confidence in and a defense that doesn't squander a third quarter two score lead after the starting QB went out injured and the back-up lead the team to a 3rd quarter field goal to make it a two score game.

I think that it’s just as likely that Penn State wins out and finishes in top ten. Somewhere in the midd LLC e us more likely.
