If the Horns can just hang on to the ball, they're gonna find a way to dice the UW defense. Huskies D has been porous at times throughout the year. Texas gets a stop here and look out.

TX with a FG, makes it 37-31, Washington, with 1:09 left in the game.

TX attempts an onside kick, but Washington recovers. TX has 2 TOs left, so Washington should pretty much be able to run this out.

That was one of the more pathetic onside kick attempts I've seen.

they are so hard to execute how the kicking team hopes, as the ball is unpredictable in terms of whether or not it will catch an edge, whether it will pop up, stay down, etc.

TX tried an interesting technique of kicking it while on its side. Surprisingly, the ball stayed flat against the turf, making it pretty easy for the Washington guy to smother it.

Why in the world would you not kneel down there and just take it down to :20? Now you got your RB hurt AND there's gonna be about :35 left after the punt.

Washington will punt with 50 sec left in the game. So much for my thinking they could run out the clock

Don't start booking those hotel rooms in Houston quite yet, Huskies fans.

And then Washington with a boneheaded play, of not giving 2 yards on the FC by the punt returner. That's a 15-yard penalty, so TX will take over at their 31 instead of the 16. smh

A pas into the endzone is incomplete, but the starting CB for Washington is injured.

20 sec to go. Washington calls TO.

Completion and OOB at the 12. Play is under review, but the ruling on the field (reception) stands.

15 sec left in the game.

TX loses a yard on 1st down, and throws it out of the endzone on 2nd down.

5 sec left, so this should be the game

Ewers has to throw it OOB as he's about to be sacked.

The clock shows 0:00, but the refs rule (correctly) that 1 sec should be added.

Incomplete in the endzone, so Washington wins, 37-31

Crazy ending

Wow, the first down call was beyond pathetic. You have to go to the endzone on every play. And then you throw what amounts to be 2 fade patterns? Brutal if you're a Texas backer.

Made no sense. Too risky even if he caught it.

the only rationale I can think of is that perhaps they sent every other receiver deep into the endzone, and were hoping to spring that underneath guy. He wasn't able to elude the single defender covering him. TX was lucky that at least he got OOB.

I was more focused on LSU-Wisconsin in that window. ;)

Well, and Liverpool-Newcastle…the other two early games weren’t great.
On one account, Liverpool had 7.5 expected goals (2 PKs help). Fun game for us Liverpool fans.

that is what I thought. you pin them and don't risk injury to key player. that injury could impact UW vs UM.

the long snapper running into the Texas return guy made no sense. added to the drama. this didn't have to add with this excitement.

I love Kalen DeBoer and think he is a really good coach, but that clock management...yikes. Should never have left enough time for UT.
That would almost be expected with JF, but thought UW staff had more sense.

Nothing like betting a game minutes before the starting RB gets hurt.
Line went to -3.5 and then up to -4.5.
If Dillon is out, which looks likely, it will go beyond -10. game will be less dramatic than the semis.

the game is only a week off so will hurt Dillon recovery. these games used to be played last week (i.e. 28th or 29th) and not sure when that changed and why.

Really?

Only 2 of the 10 CFP semis were played on the 28th or the 29th

2014: Semis played Jan. 1
2015: Semis played Dec. 31
2016: Semis played Dec. 31
2017: Semis played Jan. 1
2018: Semis played Dec. 29
2019: Semis played Dec. 28
2020: Semis played Jan. 1
2021: Semis played Dec. 31
2022: Semis played Dec. 31
2023: Semis played Jan. 1

Help. After the UW RB was hurt on 3rd down, why did the clock start on the snap as opposed to the ready for play? Texas was out of time outs. They announced Texas declined the 10 second run off. Did UW have to take a time out? If not, I would have thought the clock would start on the ready for play.

That's waaay too many points for a RB. The spread will not even approach 10. I would be shocked if it got to 7.

These can’t be B10 officials. They called offensive holding 2 plays in a row. That’s 2 more than their per game average, especially if UM or OSU offense was involved.

Snoodgrass and company.

From the rulebook…

  1. If the player injury is the only reason for stopping the clock (other than his or a teammate’s helmet coming off, Rule 3-3-9) with less than one minute in the half, the opponent has the option of a 10-second runoff.
    1. The play clock will be set at 40 seconds for an injury to a player of the defensive team and at 25 seconds for an injury to a player of the offensive team (Rule 3-2-4-c-4).
    2. If there is a 10-second runoff the game clock will start on the referee’s signal. If there is no 10-second runoff the game clock will start on the snap.
    3. The 10-second runoff may be avoided by the use of a charged team timeout if available.
    4. There is no option of a 10-second runoff if there are injuries to opposing players. (A.R. 3-3-5-VIII and IX)
