He's won everywhere he's been. I predict that one day he will be a big name coach and a lot of Carolina fans will still be saying he isn't really that good. Honestly, if Shane's last name was Smith, his daddy was not a head coach and everything else about his history was exactly the same do you think he would have bene hired as the head coach of a P5 program?
A lot of the same people who are belittling Chadwell are the same people who said Kirby was a bad hire for Georgia and were glad we got Muschamp instead.
I've never made any predictions about his future, whether he will be a good P5 coach or now, because it's absolutely impossible to tell. If you compared resumes, which coach would you have predicted would win 2 national titles and play for 2 others, Swinney or Herman? Coaching hires are just a total crapshoot.
That being said, it's not like Chadwell is an unknown. He's 46 years old. Certainly not old, but lots other guys got their P5 break before the age of 46. All I can do is assume there's a reason no P5 school has shown any serious interest in him. Some were prediction him to be a home run hire in the SEC, but half or more of all the SEC jobs have come vacant in the past few years, and nobody looked at Chadwell.
If he really is that good, it's better that he take the step up to Liberty. If he stays there a couple more years and does well and Beamer doesn't get it going here, then we can have our shot at him.
