To be fair, Rick Ray wasn’t distracted with his annual offseason, public job searches.*****^
Won’t have to worry about that this year. I just hope he doesn’t become bitter and feel like he’s trapped here, then things could really fall apart.

I wouldn’t be so sure. I wouldn’t put it past him to look around at places that are lateral or even less. He really doesn’t seem to want to be here, and I truly don’t care what he does.

Now Jans has complete freedom to focus on the portal. Or whatever it is that they call the process by which a basketball coach looks for his next gig. Coaching portal, maybe?

Well, the BB season is over, another underachiever. Let's move on to a winning program. Wait, we don't have a winning program.....maybe softball before the injuns catch up...

Obviously that’s a joke, but I think we’re officially out of the happy to have made the dance era. 3 one and dones will do that.
I am not out of the happy to have made the dance era. It was frustrating to watch us waste opportunities, but nothing like watching Stans take teams that should have been low seeds and underachieving them out of the tournaments, much less not having them in the tournament to begin with.

I think Jans is basically still in building mode. Hubbard is great, but he needs to be a two guard that is drawing the other team's 2nd or 3rd best perimeter defender. That's not a knock on him, it's just the nature of him being 5'10. Kuegel was a good shot at getting him some help, and the change of scenery didn't get him to live up to his potential. The PSU guard was seemingly a low percentage bet to begin with, but was another chance to get some help.

Hopefully with players seeing he is going to get them to the dance, he can get in on some recruits/transfers that are better percentage plays than he has been doing.

A 3-year rebuild in the NIL era at a P5 school? I don’t buy this at all.

He’s better than Howland or Ray, but that is basically not saying anything. I can’t help but wonder how much better he’d be if he was grateful to be employed at his best job yet.

Not rebuilding. Just building.

Howland was ultimately disappointing, but he definitely left the program in a better position than he found it.

I think the program is in a better position now than when Jans started, and it should be easier for him to build a better team now than it was when he started.

Granted, with unlimited transfers, it's less of an advantage that it would have been before. But I think it still matters and we're in a good position for Jans to improve going forward if he commits to staying.

He's getting a more money at MSU, but New Mexico State is not that much of step down. And Las Cruces is a big step up from Starkville. But it's all a matter of opinion, I guess.

We are kind of back to where we were with Stansbury. Jans probably a better X and O's guy but Stansbury could get the talent.

A 3-year rebuild is impossible in today's era.

Las Cruces may be a step up from Starkville. But MSU is a huge step up from NMSU.

I constantly read he’s not happy to be here. Have you spoken with him? Read it in article? You specialize in body language? I’m seriously want to know the source all of you at sayers at how Jan’s simply wants out

Can y’all tell me what Jans has done that makes it seem he doesn’t want to be here and isn’t happy? I know he supposedly interviewed for the Arkansas job last year, but hell, that’s a better job. I can’t blame him for that.
