My initial reaction was that this was extremely poor game day management, but when viewed with extenuating circumstances ti made more sense.
Miami was starting a true freshman in his very first game. High pressure situation, and knowing Clemson would in all likelihood dial up a variety of blitzes with less than a minute to go, to force mistakes Take the calculated risk to set up in Red Zone offense, then use the OL to set up the power run game, and have the luxury of using a short outlet pass.
It could have backfired but in this case it worked.

OT is a game of Russian Roulette. I think most coaches want to end it in regulation if at all possible, when you have decent field position. He was very lucky.

That was incredibly stupid. I think the fan base was booing and I don`t blame them. What in the world was he thinking? They have a really good kicker and just needed a FG. He got lucky when they won.
