Clarence went from being one of the most dominant players on a high school football field that I've ever seen to a hard luck story after blowing out his knee and never being the same again. If you remember, he missed 2 years and went through several operations and rehabs to come back and finally play linebacker for us in the lean years.

He has received his degree and will begin coaching linebackers this fall at Co-Lin under Glen Davis. For all college athletics gets wrong today, he's an example of something it got right.

I remember the 2000 State Playoffs, when he and the Clinton Arrows came to Starkville and blasted the Jackets in the North Half final. Clarence ran all over the place in a game covered in mud. Considering the weather and outcome, it was a miserable game to watch for a Starkville native, but that guy could play some football. It's a shame his knee held him back, but I'm glad to see he's worked hard enough to stay involved with football and make a career out of it.

...It had rained for something like 48 hours straight and stopped right before kickoff. The stat line of 38 carries for 320 yards sticks in my head, but I don't know that it's accurate. Also, by that game Clinton had already lost their top 2 running backs (one of whom, Coco Hodge was an incredibly gifted fullback at 6'1, 235 and eventually signed with us but never played because of a broken leg) and their quarterback (seems like he was a wrestler's son). Pretty much all Clinton did that game was snap it to Clarence and let him run. He made a couple of plays the following week in the championship game against Moss Point and Demarius Bilbo that were incredible.

He had to work his *** off, but he did it and became a good SEC linebacker. I always thought he showed a lot of character in the way he handled things. I have my own McDougal high school game memory. His senior season, Clinton played at Madison Central. Madison had 3 Dandy Dozen players that year and either 1 or 2 the following year. Yet with all that talent on the Madison side of the ball, McDougal was like a man among boys that night. He was be far the best player on the field.

Agreed. Every time we played Clinton, Justice and Taylor would tell us to focus on Hodge and McDougal and they would still run all over us. Drove them crazy. I think Hodge collapsed one of my lungs when I tried to tackle him.

in double digit years but last night, I watched the last 30 minutes of Raw for some reason. When in the hell did Mike Adamle start being an announcer?
