I actually have this quote copied right now and was about to post it myself...you beat me to it.

But, honestly, this guy is an embarrassment to the Bears, our State, and the SEC. As much as I love having him at TSUN, I'm hoping he has a bad enough year to get fired and finally run out of the SEC this year.</p>

Would we have won nine games if Nutt was Our coach last season?

Now about over signing. I agree with Florida's President about it being immoral. The reasons for over signing is already figured into recruiting. You can only have 85 scholarships and you are only suppose to sign 25 a year. Heck over four years that is 100 scholarships. That's 15 more then you can have. The loss of players are already figured in. If the guy is questionable don't sign him. Find some else who can help and who can get in. Other then making your signing class look better dumb asses do you no good. Just a thought.

I wonder if this great humanitarian would have such a soft spot were the player as athletic as yours truly.

Nutt is no different than any other coach in America - he uses the young athlete to line his pockets with dough. What does the athlete get out of it? Not much. An education? Yeah right. An NFL contract? Not many. Life lessons? Perhaps not to listen to two-faced hypocrites. As much as I love college football, the whole thing is a scam.

If they don't earn the education, that is their own damn fault. I had many classes with crazy smart student athletes who did everything they could to excel in the classroom. We all know there is an unfortunately large percentage that don't do anything and are allowed to skate by, but that is their choice.

I'm going to ask myself 'what would Houston do?'

Hell, they ought to sell WWHD wristbands.

It wasn't my intention, but nevertheless...

The whole student athlete idea is ridiculous. Most of these guys aren't college material. They are only in college because they are good at football. They only stay in college because they are good at football. The schools tutor them, set them up in cupcake classes, etc. If not for their athletic abilities noone would care if they got into school, and the main thing people care about is that they remain eligible so they can play. The players know this and most don't give a crap about academics.

College football is a scam. It uses young men by claiming to give them an education while people make millions off of them. Then people have the nerve to get upset if a player leaves early for the NFL. What a joke. Get mad about it if you wish, but it is what it is.

Do you feel this way about ALL college athletics or just college football? And can I have your football season tickets?

Kidding. Seriously, the Jim Tressel thing and countless others show this is a MAJOR business, not just an extention of the Academic arm of the University. Rick Cleveland's editorial today kinda touched on that. Fans have to come to grips with what it is or stick their heads into the sand.

on the Maslow Bullshitter's Hierarchy of needs... "He who believes his own bile".
Which ironically falls just after "Needs bathroom attendant"

All they need is Nutt to cut them before they are on the team and after they are able to sign elsewhere?

I'm confused.

...the only difference is Jackie actually cared about MSU. I truly believe Nutt couldn't give two ***** about OM.

Shoot for the buyout Houston. Shoot for the buyout, baby.

but he is in no way, shape, or form a program builder. Give me any coach for one day, Nutt may be my man. He definitely has favorites, and he can definitely drive a fanbase insane. Maybe those Arkansas crackheads weren't as nutty as say, olemissbydamn and rebelbruiser would have us to believe.<div>
</div><div>Funny thing in all of this, is that Ole Miss has once again, been made out to be someone's *****. This time, it's the entire fanbase of the University of Arkansas. Well, and MSU, too.</div>

The longer he stays, the further they fall behind, and he will always provide message board topics. It really is completely ridiculous that anyone can take him serious anymore, except those who bleed red, blue, and black. I enjoy the comedy. Better them than us and he would only embarrass the state of MS if he was a native.

Actually, I would go as far to say this starts long before college. It's starts in high school and sometimes before that. Take Powe for example. He should have never graduated high school or got that certificate he got. Not sure what the specifics were, but I'm pretty sure he never missed any junior high or high school games. I agree this is a shame. People wanna win. Football has become more than just a game to a lot of people. I'm pretty sure it's not gonna change for that reason.

i stated that it is unfortunate so many are allowed to skate by and do nothing. the fact remains, if they want to be a true student athlete, then the encouragement and the opportunity is there for the taking. you can't deny that.
