Clemson in the SEC could happen. It would not bother me (it would Dabo though) because their smooth, easy road to the playoffs would be OVER. I think that's a good thing because that easy road helps their recruiting way, way more than SEC affiliation would. That being said, only if ESPN increases the payouts to the SEC so there's no pay cut do I see the SEC adding schools from within its existing footprint. But bear in mind that Disney owns ESPN (and there are rumors that Disney wants to have someone take ESPN off their hands). Disney is not in the best of financial health, as evidenced by their stock price imploding 57% in the past 2 1/2 years. I'm not sure what impact that might have. Also, it was mentioned above that Texas came in even though Texas A&M was not agreeable. I'd be careful with that analogy. Texas is THE school in that state. That is totally different from clemson and FSU. There's a reason why Texas had its own network but TAM did not.
I agree that it would hurt their recruiting. They’re currently taking the same message Bama, UGA, & OSU is to recruits: Come here and compete for national championships. That message rings hollow after you go 8-4 a couple of years. It’s already been 3 years since they’ve been to the cfp.

I heard an interesting point related to adding A&M. There is thought that adding them was a tactic to lure UT. The thought being that UT didn’t want A&M to have any financial advantage over them as it relates to TV. Don’t know how true that is, just something someone told me.

Some are saying the B1G would help pay for that.
This was my thought as well. ESPN is going to have to fight Fox for territory if ACC members become available. Makes much more sense for ESPN to do that in NC/VA bc they’ll lose those markets all together if they walk.

Looking from the B1G 10 perspective not a good fit at all. Clemson is not a AAU school and does not have a medical program.
2 very big disqualifiers.
The Big Ten has never invited a non-AAU school to join. Kansas, an AAU school, is 1,000 times more likely to get an invite. A basketball powerhouse and now football is pretty good.

Been said many times but I will repeat it. Conferences (and that includes the SEC) do not just look at football and TV ratings to decide who they invite to join. As far as ACC members the B1G wants UNC and UVa. The SEC is standing pat and do not want CU or FSU. So there you are.

It's also been said many times that the SEC is standing pat, right up until the press conference where they announce expansion again.

Conferences don’t look at football and ratings? The two things that actually make them money? So what exactly do they look at in your eyes because past indicators say otherwise.

Yeah, I think the fight is going to be for UNC and UVA, as crazy as that sounds from a football standpoint.

You haven't been watching the realignment saga very closely, have you?
