Didn't even make the 1st 10 out list

To some degree, Clowney was probably a victim of his hype. He was hailed as possibly the best high school recruit ever. Some were saying he was NFL-ready straight out of high school. That hype continued after his monster 2012 season, culminating with "the hit" leading into 2013. Unfortunately, 2013 was a major disappointment, with only 3 sacks on the year. Of course, he was double-teamed almost every play. If his 2012 could have approximated his 2012 season, it would probably look a lot different. As it is, he had a really good 2011 for a true freshman. A truly great 2012. A pedestrian 2013 (as far as stats go). His stats suffered greatly in 2013 b/c of the attention he got from opposing OL, but it opened things up for Kelcy Quarles, who went from 3.5 sacks in 2012 to 9.5 sacks in 2013.

True. In 2013, teams were not going to let Clowney be an impact player in the game.

Also, can't remember who our defensive coordinator was but he had Clowney dropping into pass coverage.
