Coach34's 2011 SEC breakdown- QB's

I have to start early this year- Little34 part deaux is due in a few weeks. We start our 2 week SEC look with the QB's projected to start in 2011- this is based on performance, not pro potential:

1. Aaron Murray- threw for over 3000 yards last season in his 1st as a starter. Hands down the SEC’s best starting QB

2. Stephen Garcia- To borrow a quote from Jack Nicholson- he may like to “fight and 17 too much”, but Garcia puts up the numbers. Spurrier is going to ride him and play his back-up some, but if Garcia can cut down on turnovers, he will have a great season. 

3. Chris Relf- should top the 3000 mark this season rushing/passing combined. He controls the clock and doesn’t turn the ball over. Showed a lot of growth down the stretch last season and looks to build on that in 2011.


4. Tyler Wilson- talented QB with a lot of weapons. Will throw for a lot of yards and TD’s- but will probably have more turnovers than he would like this season. Poised for a great year. 

5. Tyler Bray- Tennessee is going to wing it, and they will rack up some yards. He threw a pick every 22 passes last season- needs to improve on that. Lots of hype for this guy that completed a lower percentage of his passes than Relf last season with more INT’s

6. John Brantley- I’m betting on Charlie Weis here. Brantley should be improved and produce in 2011. Even in a crappy season, he completed 61% of his passes. 

7. Barrett Trotter- He will produce simply from being in the offense he is in- but with lots of new, inexperienced faces to block for him, it will be more of a struggle than the Barners are used to the last 2 seasons. 8. Bama’s QB- whomever it is will handoff a lot and throw safe passes. Saban's advice for 2011- "don't 17 up"

9. Jordan Jefferson- in spite of LSU fans wanting him gone, JJ continues to hang on. I think he improves a little under Kragthorpe, and has a decent Sr season

10. Mackey/Brunetti- good OL but below average SEC WR’s. Whether it’s the one that stutters or the WV castoff, you can be sure they will know how to handoff in 2011. 

11. Morgan Newton- he has a good OL, but everybody else is new. Good luck buddy

12. Larry Smith- new coach, new system, same ol Vandy

Weis?? He hasnt really produced since Tom Brady. Even Jimmy Clausen was just average. I see the Florida situation being a zook-esk type deal.

I totally agree that he's the most talented, but I just see Georgia as being worse this year. OL questions, RB depletions, only 1 or two WR, head coach on the hot seat, offense resembling crooms, all these things add up to a bad year.

I'm sure (haven't researched any) that UGA's receivers are serviceable, so I think Murray will be just fine throwing to them because he's damn good QB. Just because he doesn't have an AJ Green doesn't mean hedoesn't have anyone to throw to. The OL is the real question mark with them, but I think they'll be adequate as well.

assessment. Murray is great, but Georgia did not beat a team last year that was above .500 and they lose a lot more than people want to admit. Two explosive, tall WR's, three starters on their OL, and two very, very good LBs.

I feel like too many people just want to write off their problems from last year and just say "well, they're Georgia; they'll bounce back." I think they'll be lucky to win 7 games this year.

Aaron Murray could potentially be in this category too. We will see after this year since he lost most of his receiving leaders from last year.

The OL did not show any inprovement from game one through game 12. Mazoli ran for his life every game. I don't think they will be improved since last season. I think it all comes down to coaching.I think they had more talentthen we did on the OL but our coaching was more superior to theirs. I think Sherrod is a great examaple. Until he got good coaching what he did on the field was just pure talent but that is not good enough. If westill had had Croom no way Sherrod goes in the first round. Plus a few other handicap the QB's are going to face. They do not have a good QB coach and they do not run a spread offense. Not that a pro set is bad it's they have spread QB's.Two totally different syle of offenseneeding two different type ofQB's. It just don't make any sense. Nutt is a horrible coach and until Ole Miss gets a new AD and anew Head Coachthings are going to be bad for them.

OM had a ton of injuries on the OL last year. They should be solid if they're all healthy.

Until they show improvement I am not buying. Those injury playerslost valuable playing time to gain experience. I am also calling the BYU game. Ole Miss is going to get the biggest out of conference whipping in years.

Larry smith being the worst qb. I have a gut feeling that vandy has a shot at going 6-6 with 18 returning starters. Larry smith will be much improved and a middle of the pack qb
