Garrett, who is from Mississippi, grew up an MSU "fan" and now de-commits and verbals with LSU because he loves their campus and blah, blah, blah.

And now you have Manieri who supposedly doesn't like cajun livin' in Red Stick (That's actually believeable) and loves Starkville of all places.

So basically, if this goes down, we're trading our "savior" QB for Manieri to save our baseball program. LOL.

I still don't buy it. LSU is going to get a new stadium, he's at a school that cares about baseball and has tradition. Plus, isn't he from La.? Also, they could outbid us if need be.

The only rational way that I would buy this is because A.) I do know that he really likes MSU and our program B.) We wouldn't be near the rebuilding job that LSU is at this time.

Who knows? I still say that we should have gotten Manieri when we hired Polk II.

A good hire could get me excited about MSU baseball again. Hiring Raffo or this clown from the AFA would pretty much wipe out that possibility.

Saddog, your point is well taken that Polk's public comments may be his way of telling those with ties to the program to back off. I just hope that if Cohen is truly interested in the job (and I hope he his) Polk's endorsement of Raffo should not keep him out of the mix.

We can't be willing to risk mediocrity just to make Coach Polk happy. I realize that Coach Polk's dedication is what built MSU baseball and I appreciate what he has done. I don't think that will ever be forgotten. Heck, his name is on the stadium after all.

But here's the bottom line - on Sunday May 18 this will no longer be his baseball program. He needs to realize that the people that are supposedly his bosses are the ones that have to make the decisions on what is best for MSU and its baseball program.

MSU baseball is bigger than one person. If Polk is unwilling to accept this, then maybe he should make good on the thinly veiled threat from Saturday's CL and move to Arizona.

We should never have rehired Polk in 2001. We should have left him over there at UGA and conducted a real national search in which we hired someone like a Manieri. Instead our AD saddled us with a Legend whose name is on the stadium who we could not fire and who thinks he is bigger than the program. He has a portion of the fanbase that basically worships him and believes he's always right. He's dividing this fanbase right now with his arrogance and selfishness. This could all have been avoided had our AD conducted a real search and hired someone other than Polk. Yet people still defend that AD.

were totally unrelated, but polk did not want perno (sp?) as his replacement at uga and their admin. went against his suggestion for a replacement...hopefully we will do the same (yeah right).

and the UGA admin tried to hire others until Perno was essentially all that was left I think.
