there's no winning on this point today. None. Time to give it a rest.
I'm a huge Stans fan. But the simple fact is that Stans, his wife and his children are hated on this board. I wish it weren't the case, but it is. It's simply the latest fad on here. Just like the old fad of everyone loving Croom and hating Sherrill. Wasn't a big fan of that one either.
And let's be honest here. Stans isn't doing his fans any favors. He's accomplished a good bit while at State, better than most anybody would have in my opinion, but even having said that, he's failed repeatedly to get us to the next level. Even if that failure is by a basket or two. Twice.
Until Stans can do something to quiet the critics, it's not going to get any better.
I think Stansbury understands it as well but I also am smart enough to know be careful what you wish for, it could be another Croom. All I know is Big Sid has lost 35 lbs this summer working out so I think he got the message and hopefully this team will step up. All the garbage on here by the so-called experts who have never once coached on a collegiate level is comical at best. Players win games and Cohen was being bashed a few weeks ago and now he is a hero. It is the nature of the beast but I still have faith and unlike Coach 34and a few of his trolls, I want MSU to succeed in basketball and I am not sure some of them really do because they would rather act smart than ever admit they were wrong.
It could be another Crooms, or it could beanother Mullen. Point is- everybody knows what we have in The Recruiter after 13 years, and being decent just isnt good enough anymore.
You dont have to coach on the collegiate level to recognize coaches that can get it done and the ones that cant. You telling me because Scott Stricklin and Keenum havent coached collegiately, theycan't possibly hire a new coach?
Players win games? Sure. Well-coached players win even more games- like the ones that get you into the Sweet 16.
You want State to succeed in basketball? Well no ****, so do we. Thats why we want to get a new basketball coach. We're tired of not succeeding. 1 at-large berth in the last 6 years doesnt cut it.
Dan Mullen- Top 15 ranking and NYD bowl
John Cohen- Sweet 16 Super Regional as an underdog
The Recruiter? A cluster-17 of a season that was nationally embarrassing- called a "dumpster fire" by the national media.
We see who is successful and who isnt.
