Colorado tickets went on sale today as they expected a rush to sell out quickly. Only 1 problem- their AD lost his mind over ticket pricing.

Cheapest ticket for the Nebraska game (upper level end zone), was $325. Top end was $979 per ticket.

USC- $237.50- $680.

Stanford- $187.50- $680.

Cheapest tickets were for Oregon State and Arizona- $113- $565.

This is a team that went 1-11 last year. They have had only 2 winning records over the last 17 years, (69-134 since 2006).

They better hope Deon has that team on fire. ;)

Gotta gouge while the gettin' is good. Maybe they want to fill to coffers before moving to the Big XII.

I guess. The stadium only holds 50,183 and they’ve yet to sell out a game - even with all of the “Coach Prime” hype.

For a team that’s been struggling to attract fans, they’re sure doing a good job of chasing away younger fans or families with kids from attending.

A few things you need to be aware of
(if you’re not already)
1 - They don’t have mandatory donations that we have.
2 - They don’t screw people with ridiculous parking rates.
3 - I have a construction office in Bellevue Nebraska. To this day Nebraskans hate 2 teams Oklahoma and Colorado so that game to both teams is a rivalry game

Are you sure about #2? One would think that “screwing people with ridiculous parking rates” was covered in Week 1 of College Football Administration 101.

I realize Nebraska and Colorado were rivals back in their Big 12 days but they both are pretty bad now. (Colorado was 1-11 last year. Nebraska was 4-8).

Just for perspective- last year you could get Colorado season tickets in the upper level end zone for $300. That covered every game, all year.

This year they charged $325 for a single game ticket, (for those same seats), just for the Nebraska game.

EDIT-
Looked into their parking. It’s limited to season ticket holders mainly. The parking pass cost $130 with minimum giving level between $1000- $5000. The higher the level you give the more preferred parking garage you get. (They don’t have fields around the stadium like at PSU).

This is getting good now. Maybe Deion will buy a shat ton of tickets for his Louis baggage to sit in. 🤣

Okay .. I stand corrected. I either misunderstood people thru the years or things changed. I live in Bucks Co and don’t really discuss Colorado football during my 1/2 visits to that office each year.

No problem. I had to look most of it up too. I’m certainly not an expert on Colorado football but just noticed their prices today and was shocked compared to prior years. (We’ve gone out to games there a few times over the years).

I guess the predicted PAC shortfall in tv revenue deals and the money they need to pay back to Comcast (?) may be involved as well. We’ve seen Wazzu go into the hiring freeze and cut on all unnecessary spending this week as they prepare for the financial hits. I guess Colorado was trying to capitalize with all the Deon hype but I think they may have really overstepped their limits this year. ;)

So, once they get a reasonable return from this fort what does everyone think the rest of the college football money making, donation collecting universe is going to do? Sit on their hands?

College football attendance (despite having an uptick last year - for the first time in a long time) is well below the levels it was at 10 years ago, even 20 years ago.
Obviously, for the power players (aka the B1G and the SEC) TV rights deals over the last generation have allowed them to continue to hemorrhage spending like there's no tomorrow. For the rest of the gang? Not so much.

Doesn't take the Amazing Kreskin to see where things will end up, if such trends continue.

Penn State should spend that $700 MM now in case there’s no college football later.
