Cool story James

Sorry if already discussed but did anyone catch James’s PC yesterday? In his opening statement he goes on about some chain guy on the sidelines trying to get his attention and says to James “hey I remember when you were here 2 years ago and you were yelling Don’t Score! Don’t Score!” And he went on to tell James that he was a pastor and uses that as an example to his listeners metaphorically…

Is James really this thin-skinned? It’s not a good look to bring this up more than 2 years later. I mean he’s still trying to make excuses. No matter how he tries to spin it, he’s still largely to blame for that disaster ending in Bloomington in 2020. If he kneels it, we don’t have to worry about scoring. If keeps the ball in Cliff’s hands instead of putting it in a young “immature” tailbacks hand, we don’t have to worry about scoring. Not to mention, he’s basically throwing Devyn Ford under the bus. I wonder how he and his family feel after hearing that.

Again, I like James but I think like a lot of us we’re tired of hearing excuses after excuses after excuses after poor showings or seasons. Point is, if that conversation really happened, there’s no need to bring that up 2 years later. Everyone moved on…well maybe not everyone.

Huh? I have no idea how you drew that conclusion from that story.

Seems clear as day to me.
Yeah, sorry, but I think you're really reaching. And I guess he brought it up because the comment from the chain gang guy just happened a couple days ago. Yes, it related back to something that happened 2 years ago, the last time we were at IU. But unless Franklin is making up the part about the chain gang guy just to be able to resurrect the Indiana 2020 game, it seems like a perfectly timely thing to mention.

Then why even bring it up? And all the details too about not scoring….think of it like this, imagine someone from the media asking him about that situation 2 years ago. He’d deflect it for sure and say it’s irrelevant.

I agree with the original poster I thought it was weird that James brought it up. I didn't understand the point. Surely he does not bring up with the press every sideline conversation that occurs. Not saying it was a big deal, I just thought it was odd

Why is it I don't believe you "like James?"
I love when but follows a phony positive.
I believe that Ford or other players acknowledged after the game that they had practiced those situations and had been told what to do.
In spite of this, perhaps the defense could have made a stop in the final seconds of regulation or overtime? (replays seem pretty clear the nose of the ball touched before hitting the pylon).
In any event it was a loss in a 4-5 season. Whose thin skin is being exposed here?

LOL a game that PSU outgained Indy 488-211, had 11 more first downs and Franklin was responsible for PSU missing not 1 not 2 but 3 field goals. The defense had stopped Indy 8-12 third down attempts and could not get one more. Finally, look at the tape as Ford hesitates at the goal line realizing that he had a brain fart and looks immediately to the sidelines.
James should have ran out and tackled him.

I'm glad you like James.

Well some people have no life other than thinking of ways to manufacture criticism of Franklin.

You don't stop making smart coaching decisions just because of missed field goals.

You don't stop playing defense when you are ahead in a game with seconds to play either.

Don't disagree, but comedy of errors and microcosm of the entire season in that final sequence of events - poor coaching decisions and player execution = loss to team we should almost never lose to. That said, the final Indiana TD was not a TD.

Um, Devyn Ford quit on his team halfway though this season. Where's your fake outrage about that?
Not to mention, he’s basically throwing Devyn Ford under the bus. I wonder how he and his family feel after hearing that.
Maybe Devyn Ford got tired of hearing about it (CJF AND Clifford should have made it VERY clear to DF what he was to do before the play). Maybe that's why Devyn Ford "quit" on this team.

Agreed it was not. The video makes it clear that Ford knew he should not have scored.
Loses here are ALWAYS poor coaching decisions. Strange how that works.

Are you saying Ford is a bit slow? LOL
A mistake from 2 years ago sent him packing. Stretch to make a relevant point much?
Kid quit on this team to consider his options. Does that make him a bad kid. No.
This is the era of me first. No one stays if they have $$$$ or greener pastures.
It'll be fun to watch the melt down here when the rush to the portal begins in December.
It will be "I like James but....." he never gave the kid a chance."

Looks like possible bad weather Friday or Saturday. Two weeks in a row.....GD Franklin. He needs to do a better job considering "how much WE are paying him."

He looks like he was confused. There should have been NO confusion before the ball was snapped.
He wasn't confused when he stopped a the 6 inch line.....is that normal? Why would he hesitate? Because he got "in the moment" and forgot what he had been told.
I mean, if you have children, they of course always do what you tell them to do right? If they defy your wishes, is it because they are confused?

Bottom line is there was no reason to bring up that story. It wasn’t funny. It wasn’t even an interesting story. James is very calculated when he talks and he had an agenda bringing up that irrelevant story.

"I didn't understand the point."

That's okay, neither did the original poster. If he did, he probably wouldn't have made the post.
