LOL a game that PSU outgained Indy 488-211, had 11 more first downs and Franklin was responsible for PSU missing not 1 not 2 but 3 field goals. The defense had stopped Indy 8-12 third down attempts and could not get one more. Finally, look at the tape as Ford hesitates at the goal line realizing that he had a brain fart and looks immediately to the sidelines.
James should have ran out and tackled him.

I'm glad you like James.

I was just going to say the same thing. I remember Ford looking around at his teammates. Situational awareness. If its too good to be true, it usually is.

Seems clear as day to me.
So, a guy who worked the chain gang two years ago brings up something that happened because he wants to relay how he uses that experience in his capacity as a pastor at a church. The guy had (probably) not seen CJF in two years, so he wants to take this time to relay the story.

Pretty benign.

CJF relays the story as an entry into his weekly press conference, because....it is a nice story. There is no ulterior motive, unless one wants to find an ulterior motive. Which you did.

Like someone else said, when you look for Bigfoot everything looks like Bigfoot.

The only thing clear is you are reading into something....that is not there. But have at it. If thats what gets you through the day.....so be it.

The point James took away from that was - as explicitly stated by the pastor - ‘What may look good for you now, may not be the case down the road.’ This as James is telling Ford/team not to score. I’d love an explanation as to what that means - at least in this very specific context - since not scoring there almost certainly wins us the game. Would also love to know why it was worth sharing since James has a reason for everything says and does at these things….*long pause*….

Except that there’s nothing interesting about that story. Look, if this happened, that’s something you bring up with your family or friends or staff. It’s so clear to anyone who isn’t a CJF apologist that he’s acting a bit petty by putting this out there, an incident that’s well in the past.

What’s next? Is the next time he goes to Ann Arbor, is he going to say that some confectionery worker came up to him and said, “hey remember when you were here a couple of years ago and you mentioned everyone wants to be Aaron Donald? How everyone thinks they can be undersized and play. Well I told my kid that and now he won’t stop eating and he’s tearing up High School football”

C’mon James, let it go. Stop bringing up things from 2 years ago to try and absolve yourself. You make 8.5M/year. Don’t be so petty and thin skinned.

Well you don't normally stop inches from the end zone and take a water break. He got caught up in the moment. Still incumbent on the defense to get a stop on a TD or 2 pt conversion. Simpletons like to look at one play and claim "that was the game." That isn't how it works. You need to overcome some hiccups to win games. 2020 was a nightmare from losing Parsons and Brown before game one.....LOL I remember fans saying oh we have the depth to overcome that....your top 2 difference makers before game one. Then to add insult to injury, Cain goes down on the first series. Under normal circumstances Ford likely wouldn't have been in there. In any event, ancient history.
The next brilliant post will be that James Franklin borrowed lunch money from a friend in 7th grade and didn't repay it.
Fanboys.

Sorry if already discussed but did anyone catch James’s PC yesterday? In his opening statement he goes on about some chain guy on the sidelines trying to get his attention and says to James “hey I remember when you were here 2 years ago and you were yelling Don’t Score! Don’t Score!” And he went on to tell James that he was a pastor and uses that as an example to his listeners metaphorically…

Is James really this thin-skinned? It’s not a good look to bring this up more than 2 years later. I mean he’s still trying to make excuses. No matter how he tries to spin it, he’s still largely to blame for that disaster ending in Bloomington in 2020. If he kneels it, we don’t have to worry about scoring. If keeps the ball in Cliff’s hands instead of putting it in a young “immature” tailbacks hand, we don’t have to worry about scoring. Not to mention, he’s basically throwing Devyn Ford under the bus. I wonder how he and his family feel after hearing that.

Again, I like James but I think like a lot of us we’re tired of hearing excuses after excuses after excuses after poor showings or seasons. Point is, if that conversation really happened, there’s no need to bring that up 2 years later. Everyone moved on…well maybe not everyone.

You can confess/work out your stuff on here ...

That depends upon an individual's personal faith and beliefs. I understand many on this board can't see that. Others might find it interesting that a pastor took an incident that occurred during a football game and used that incident to discuss a broader and deeper message to his congregation regarding things that happen in life.

I doubt CJF would have repeated the story if the chain gang guy merely wanted to talk to him about the difference in weather between 2020 and 2022.

Losing 1 or 2 players is all it takes sometimes. In 2004, Joe said he was just a few players from a good team. He got Justin King and Derrick Williams.
