Make no mistake,it`s no where near back to normal and it`ll take a long time to get there but there are signs that mother nature is at work and proceeding with her plan. First ,As you ride from Yazoo City to Vicksburg on Hwy 3 you can see dozens of sets of deer tracks across the soft, recently flooded fields headed from the hills back to the delta. With their supply of browse so depleted (at least temporarily) I don`t know what they`ll eat but apparently the call of home is too much to resist and they`ll survive just as they have for thousands of years when thishappened in the past. Secondly, In talking to some folks who live and work in the Wolf and Broadlake areas several mentioned they have never seen the lakes so alive with fish. Both lakes were flushed and restocked as they haven`t been in decades and I`m sure the fishing will be really good for the next several years.
This flood dealt a lot of financial and emotional pain but to the folks that live and work in the flooded areas mother nature`s rebuilding work will not go un-observed or un-appreciated. Theyunderstand that if you choose to live close to nature , you`ll play by mother`s rules.
