i would like to get back to your last game of the season random like when PSU played Illini

I think you play your schedule and then the last game is

division 1 vs division 1 in the championship

and then all the other teams fall in rank.
So this year the last game wouldn’t have been MSU it would have been the 3rd rank team in the old big west.

scum plays Purdue
OSU plays Iowa
PSU plays Illini

etc.

Thoughts.

I think it would be a fun scheduling quirk.

Sounds like a logistical nightmare to me.

Not disagreeing, but what’s to come of the divisions when the west coast joins in the fun?

Can you play 14 games if not in playoffs? Play 12, the crossover you mentioned, then bowl game. Of course, maybe coaches don’t like the idea of an additional game and stay with your format.

Logistics would be tough
Couldn’t the play them all in Indy and Detroit

play the game on the Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of thanksgiving

although Saturday the week before till Wednesday probably wouldn’t work.

it would just be pretty cool in my opinion I know logistics would be tough but just a fun weekend.

Yeah, fun in theory to watch on TV but, without a conference title on the line, I foresee quite a few opt-outs

Logistics would be tough
Not really.

I had proposed something similar with 4 pods for the 16 teams. Two Eastern Division pods and 2 western division pods. Two teams in each pod would play 1 home/2 away within their pod. Those teams would host the 12th game (11th game being the "season ending rivalry"). It would be set up so the top team in each pod would play each other to be the division champion and then the division champions would play in Indy for the CCG. The other programs would play each other based on their records.

Since the team with one home game in the pod would be hosting the 12th game (already known before season starts), then it's simply a matter of hotels (which can be pre-arranged with the Ramada in State College for example) and flights (the team that knows it's on the road can reserve a charter flight). The only issue would be getting fans to the games, but frankly that is not a big issue, since the game would be the Sat after Thanksgiving and that is already a dead timeframe for travel for CFB.

It's doable. Logistics would be less of an issue than you might think .
