I know we have some cub fans on here andI need some advice. My wife and I are arriving in Chicago on Sunday for vacation and we will be attending the Cubs - Yankees game on Sunday night. This will be my first time at Wrigley and we have seats in the center field bleacher seats. Any suggestions for game day like a good bar to go to pre-game or what to do at the stadium. I know that the bleacher seats are first come first serve and that the gates don't open until 2 hours before gametime so with this being a marquee game I should probably get there when the gates open to ensure a decent seat. Kinda sucks that Jeter got put on DL but I half-expected it when he got close to 3,000 hits and was about to go on the road for 6 games. Should still be a good game though. Any suggetions are welcome. Thanks in advance. To make this MSU related I will most definately be decked out in my maroon attire at the game.

It is easy to get around on the el. Finding a parking spot for a game at Wrigley is a pain in the ***, even hours before gametime. Not to mention, something about being around that place makes you get 17ed-in-half drunk, so you don't want to be driving anyways.

ETA: take the redline, assuming you are staying in the Loop or near Wrigleyville. Otherwise, adjust accordingly.

I recommend getting in line at the outfield gate at least 90 minutes before hand (probably at least 2 hours before since its Yankees) if you want a really good outfield seat. All the bleacher seats are fun, but I sat 2nd row in left center and got to yell at Griffey for 5 hours on Memorial day 2006. Was a blast.

Bleachers will fill quickly. I'd get there early. Can't beat a beer and a dog at Wrigley, so you may want to eat there.

If you want a great restaurant in the area.

Maybe the best mediterranean restaurant you will find in Chicago. Memorable dining and good for family. A nice place with incredible kabobs, lamb, fish, beef. It's probably ten blocks north of Wrigley on the same side of Clark as the ball park. Ten blocks is not bad in Chicago and they have a parking garage across the street from the restarant.

Have fun and take the Kids to the Field Museum and Lincoln Park Zoo.

I've only been in the bleachers once, and I personally don't think there's a huge difference between the lower rows and the upper rows. That was right field though. The center field bleachers might be a different animal since they start higher. Is that a different ticket for the CF bleachers? This is just me, but personally, unless you really really really want to be in the park that early, I wouldn't spend a half hour or more waiting in line to get in 1.5-2 hours before the game. That's gonna put you in line at 4 for a 7 pm game. The Cubby Bear is a great place, but there are a lot of good establishments in Wrigleyville if you just want pub fare. I also suggest making the whole block around the stadium just to see the whole thing. If you've watched the Cubs much, some of the adjacent buildings will be familiar.
