Team National Guard lost the Indy 500 and the Coca Cola 600 today in the same fashion - having a lead on turn 4 and then not winning. Crashing at Indy and running out of gas w/ NASCAR.

but like him enough to want to see him finish well. I do love the National Guard. I liked JR's comments after the race. He is fourth in points, said if he pitted he would probably be 20th, not pitting he had a chance to win or at least finish higher than 20th. He finished 7th. More points.

with the points position he was in, Letarte made the right call to go for the win. It didn't work out, but it was a good gamble. What Dale Jr. really needed was a teammate behind him when they were running under caution. The teammate could have pushed him around and Jr. could have kept the engine off. Without a pusher, Jr. had to refire the engine periodically to maintain caution speed. The 88 team is getting some confidence. Letarte is just what Dale Jr. needed. Even without a win, at least Dale Jr. is running laps in the top 10.
