Dawn would be great as the Guest Picker on Saturday’s College Game Day. Email [email protected] if you would like to suggest her. (Or email and suggest Paris or A’Ja. Would be nice to have someone current to represent the school.)

Agreed. Not interested in politics being brought to GameDay picking.
You know Dawn's not doing that. Some of you guy's disdain for our coach is annoying and you accuse her of things that you know she won't do. I like Paris too, but who outside of South Carolina knows who Paris is. Gameday is for celebrities and Dawn is closer to that than Paris is. They could have Darius again, but he has done it multiple times.

Has A'Ja Wilson ever done the Gameday broadcast? She's having an MVP-like season and could wear her olympic gold medal during the pick'em.
She would be great, also. They have not been to Columbia in 10 years…so she would not have been on before.

Dawn does use every opportunity she can to bring up liberal talking points. I wonder how she would squeeze them into college game day? Probably a custom made t shirt from hobby lobby.
I disagree with you, but your point would have more merit if people had more to say if guys that express a problem with Dawn had a problem with Mike Leach, God bless the dead. The same people complaining about Dawn would say Mike Leach "Gets it" for bringing up Conservative talking points. They would be crying for his right to "Free Speech. Free Speech goes both ways you know or it should.

And Dawn is going to bring up politics? Did you feel that way when Trump came to a USC game last year?

Yes, i think she will, and no I didn't when trump came. Didn't Trump just show up and wave hello? Did he even get a mic?

If you made him the guest picker, I would absolutley expect him to bring up political stuff.

Email ESPN and recommend Paris. [email protected]. Just think it would be nice to have a current person like Dawn or Paris…instead of Darius, Rogers, Clowney, etc.

Current celebrity is a good idea.

But let's be honest, if you put her on the panel, people across the country would have to be told who she is.

She's a celebrity to some gamecock fans, some wouldn't recognize her if she sat at the next table in a restaurant.

(Now we can insert 10 pages of arguing about how popular women's ncaa basketball really is)

Don't we have evidence that she does, in fact, do that?

Well…I would think they would introduce her as someone who has won 3 gold medals, was the head coach of the 2021 Olympic Gold Medal Women’s team, the first person to win the Naismith Award as a player and coach, and the coach of the current NCAA women’s basketball National Championship team. Over 24 million watched the women’s final game. The men’s game was 15 million. (Michael Phelps is no longer CURRENT.)

I think they would too.

My comment t was that they would need to tell the audience that.

And what is wrong with them introducing Dawn Staley? Many of the pickers I am not familiar with…and many are not as accomplished as our coach. The picker is introduced! Maybe LeBron James would come on and introduce her. (It is not like we have a lot of “stars” from USC. The picking is slim!)

I guess I was going from the view that if someone is a "real" celebrity, they are just recognized. You don't have tonexplain who they are.

It's not a huge sticking point. You are right that a lot of guest pickers aren't really known on sight.

Ending my part of the debate…but I bet no man sitting at the College Game Day table would have to be told who Dawn Staley is. And I believe many watching the program would recognize her…and if they didn’t recognize her…they would be impressed with her many accomplishments. She would represent Carolina well! But I would, also, be delighted to have A’Ja and Paris, too.

No, she doesn't do it every time. Just too much for you apparently and you can't worry about that as a person. No matter what you do, somebody is complaining. Just happens to be you this time.

Stop it. All those people closetly watching the championship game hoping Caitlin Clark would beat her again know exactly who Dawn Staley is. It just irks some to see Staley on a platform like that.

So you admit she does it, just not "every time". Gotcha.

Thank you for at least admitting I'm correct that she does it.

Sure. You tell yourself that.

I bet she can eat in a restaurant in parts of this state and not be recognized. Much less outside this state.

Outside of the box, maybe they could have 2 celebrity pickers and have Sterling Sharpe AND Shannon Sharpe on the stage? Shannon mentions Carolina occasionally on Club ShayShay when telling stories that intersect with his high school days and coming to visit Sterling in Columbia. By the tenor of the stories, I think he has general positive sentiment for Carolina.

I think Coach Staley has some popularity. She has appeared in a few Aflac commercials with Krzyzewski.

I guess, and I know I'm not explaining myself well. You said you were ending your part, and I understand. But if you happen to read I thought of a good example.

When Texas had Matthew McConaughey, no one had to list his accomplishemtns, or even really tell the audience who he was.

I get that not everyone has that sort of recognition, but that was the "star" attribute I was speaking of.

Garcia - wasn`t it the LSU game the ref tried to tackle him? Or Paul Manieri for a guest.
