No ****. Pardon my ignorance, but how do we keep letting this happen? And how does State stop it? I refuse to believe OM's recruiting resources are that much better. State just needs to be more creative. We can’t keep letting this happen
Ha. Oookay. State needs more money and loose blondes.OM's recruiting resources are that much better. State just needs to be more creative.
I said i refuse to believe OM's resources are that much better. Or are they? If so why can't State get some loose blondes to pack their pockets?Ha. Oookay. State needs more money and loose blondes.
They are getting a great one. eyerollThat makes sense for Om , he will start but still kind of a kick in the nuts
He’s better than the corners they had. I don’t think you can evaluate some of our players based on last year with the horrid coaching and team morale we had. They will have a pretty good front 7 and pass rush, will take a lot of pressure off DCamThey are getting a great one. eyeroll
Their resources aren’t that much better. But they’re using them 1,000% better than we are.No ****. Pardon my ignorance, but how do we keep letting this happen? And how does State stop it? I refuse to believe OM's recruiting resources are that much better. State just needs to be more creative.
Their resources actually are far better. They are much closer to, say, Auburn than they are to us in terms of resources.Their resources aren’t that much better. But they’re using them 1,000% better than we are.
Who of significance have we lost to them that we had a legit chance to get?No ****. Pardon my ignorance, but how do we keep letting this happen? And how does State stop it? I refuse to believe OM's recruiting resources are that much better. State just needs to be more creative.
Why don’t you link that source? They are actually far better. They are much closer to, say, Auburn than they are to us in terms of resources.
I don’t know why that’s so hard for people to believe….they’re a school whose entire identity is based on recruiting old money for generations (especially from out of state) for purposes of partying and socializing. Been cheating their asses off since the early 80’s….they were built for success in this era. We were not.
If you don’t believe me, just read the fine print in the annual AD revenue numbers, and see how much more they are pulling in than we are in donations. They are straight murdering us in that department….and that’s all proportional to what they are doing in NIL.
Sure. Here are the 2022 revenue numbers:Why don’t you link that source?
Money matters. Lane has style and charisma too. Oxford sells better than Starkville. It's gonna be a huge challenge in this new era of NILSure. Here are the 2022 revenue numbers:
NCAA Finances: Revenue & Expenses by School - USA TODAY

OM at about $134 million.
MSU at about $111 million.
Now, subtract out what each school got from the SEC payout from the TV contract. Each school got about $50 million there.
From actual, earned revenue by each school’s own efforts (independent of the SEC perks), OM made $84 million off ticket sales, licensing, and donations. MSU made $61 million off the same.
Now, consider that both schools are at a relative wash as it relates to ticket sales. Stadium sizes in the Big 3 sports and cost per ticket are virtually identical between the two, or at very least, negligible. Licensing deal, probably a wash as well. OM may get like $1-$2 million more from Nike than we do from Adidas….who knows. Could just as easily be in MSU’s favor.
So you have these two schools in the same state and same conference with around the same number of living alumni, paying the same amount to sit in stadiums of the same size, the same number of times per year. But somehow, one school is pulling in a whopping 38% more annual revenue than the other. Where’s all that extra money coming from?
Donations, donations, donations.
Ole Miss is definitely higher but I’m pretty sure the licensing revenue isn’t the same. Could be wrong.Sure. Here are the 2022 revenue numbers:

Ne'er a truer statement about Ole Miss has ever been uttered. Funny how SMU also suddenly became P5 too.Their resources actually are far better. They are much closer to, say, Auburn than they are to us in terms of resources.

It's effing embarrassing but we should be getting used to it by now. Folks here can roll their eyes, say he wasn't good, etc but he was good enough to start for us so there's that. Anybody that thinks losing a starting DB doesn't hurt is full of ****.That makes sense for Om , he will start but still kind of a kick in the nuts
Exactly. Same can be said for Malik Heath but we at least had WRs to replace him back then, and he was drama boy. D-Cam, from all accounts, has been a model player for us. Funny how he was so good in 2022, right? It's effing embarrassing but we should be getting used to it by now. I don’t think they “want” it anymore than us, or most anyone else.Ne'er a truer statement about Ole Miss has ever been uttered. Funny how SMU also suddenly became P5 too.
The only thing separating Ole Miss from Auburn/Clemson is the overall fanbase size, and the fact that they are in a small state with less population. Make no mistake, they 'want it' in football just as much as any of these programs. And yes...they know where to go to generate the money.
They want it a lot more. They have more money than we do precisely because they want it more. We want it cheap. And that's exactly what we're getting.I don’t think they “want” it anymore than us, or most anyone else.
They just have more money than we do. The truth hurts….its not just a stereotype of “spending all of Daddy’s money at The Library”. Its reality. Its a byproduct from decades of cultivating an affluent, socialite culture….and recruiting people that fit into it (those who are already wealthy). Its why their out if state enrollment is so high…..they found that many more folks who can pay literally double in tuition for an extremely average education.
They have more money than we do in general…..not just for the football program. They want it a lot more. They have more money than we do precisely because they want it more. We want it cheap. And that's exactly what we're getting.
