When was the last State football game where you had a week that your excitement was so high it was hard to work? Week 1 games don't count.

I was looking through our schedule - it might have been 2018 Florida. Someone in a group text I am in said 2022 Arkansas after we beat A&M.

2017 UGA. That’s when all hope ended for that season after the big LSU win, then Auburn robbed whatever was left the following week.

2018 Florida would have been up there, if not for UK the week prior.

2015 Egg Bowl. After scoring 51 points in Fayetteville, I just knew we were gonna roll on to the Sugar Bowl. I even cased out hotels in New Orleans, so its probably my fault.

ETA - what a bed shitting. Senior night and final Egg Bowl for one of the best players in school history who would go on to the highest paid player in NFL history. Just win and we go to the Sugar Bowl for the first time ever. Instead we roll over and take it in brown star from ******* Chad Kelly and that scum bag Hugh Freeze.

Thursday, October 1 1992 vs Florida but I was a student at the time, so really not much working going on.

Been enough sucky games between then and now, that I just don't get too excited about it any more.

I will say 2018 Kansas State but that was partially because I went to the game. I really believed in Moorhead early on. That Kentucky game killed my joy for MSU football in a way that it still hasn’t recovered from.

1980 was the only time I truly couldn't do a damn thing. I was in shock after the HC loss to USM, but even before Bama, we'd just had big wins over Miami and Auburn and we looked like a team on a mission. And our defense.

It was a different game then and different time. But now, and maybe its just life, I won't allow myself to believe like I did back in the day .... not even in 2014 prior to Bama, because of how we looked against UK and Ark.

Really too bad Bellard hated the cigar boys and recruiting so much.

Honestly, the week before the ASU game. I was very hopefully and optimistic that we’d finally turned the corner and our future seasons were about to be on the upward trajectory.

Probably Alabama 2014. Going into that week in my head, we win that game and we’ve effectively won the West, we dogwalk Mizzou/Georgia in the championship, and we finish in the top 4.
Me too, I thought we would find a way to win but Dak threw unexpected interceptions in the first half and burst that bubble.

This is mine. Before that it was Egg Bowl 17. Bitter disappointments for both games.
This was it for me. I thought we were headed to play Notre Dame in the Citrus Bowl and then we all knew what was coming back the next year. But then the Mullen to UT rumors started and it’s been downhill ever since. And of course it was the old era where the bowls kinda mattered a little, at least the big ones.

There was some excitement building in 2022, and 2023 probably would have featured some weeks like that, but alas.

I can’t say 2018 because the Kentucky game drained all the energy out of the program.

This one. Me and Chewgumm and Thunderclap talked **** on the USCe message board all week. We had beaten Florida and Auburn in prior weeks. Phil Petty ruined the rest of that season and cured me from ever talking **** on an opposing board again.

We played Florida and Auburn after South Carolina. We had played Memphis and BYU the weeks prior.

Yeah, 2014 Bama game. I remember being pretty fired up for the 2012 Bama game too. I think I read every article and listened to every podcast the week before those two games. Oh and the 1999 Bama game was a big one.... they all turned out the same.

I was really hopeful for a big home game this year...... which is why I was so pissed when we lost to AzSt because any chance of having an exciting sec matchup with Florida was gone .... oh fn well.

this week feels like a bye week to me.

Specifically the TWO weeks between the Bama and LSU games.

It was a good wait.

man that s pretty cool... i was so young then the only thing i could remember was the Bama game. thats a helluva last 3 games to close out the regular season. what s also cool was having games against Nebraska and Miami and Illinois on the schedule even though Nebraska was a bowl game.. if this was a contest i would give you the win..

Those uni's were fire. We attended the Auburn, LSU and Ole Miss games that year. I was 10. We sat in the south end zone. $5 tickets!

I was there and still haven't recovered from the walk back to the car that day. It was awful and I'll never set foot in Bryant-Denny again.

Ten years. Bama 2014. I knew it was the whole season. Couldn’t stop thinking about it.
Honestly as soon as the “We Believe” crap started I knew it was over. Nothing says you don’t believe like needing a slogan that says you do for a game…
