Anyone who doesn't believe both us and Russia have been on nuclear "high alert" or whatever term you choose since this attack on Ukraine started is being very naïve . Putin just made Russia's status known for more leverage. I'm not saying take him lightly by any means but he didn't attack another country without having ALL of his country's defenses on full alert.

Short story, in the 60s, KGB commandeered a Soviet nuclear sub. Tried to launch a nuclear attack on Japan and make it look like the Chinese did it to draw USA and China into a nuclear war. Only failed because KGB didn't realize they needed a second set of codes to fire the warheads, so they exploded still in the sub killing all on board. No one ever even knew it happened until years later.
