Thanks for the analysis. None of that however has anything to do with punishment under the NFL personal conduct policy. Ask Zeke Elliiott

Yeah, that policy is absurd. The subjectivity to be randomly applied is nonsense. And it's essentially just a "how public did your sleazy acts become" test. Because many more guys are doing the same things as Deshaun, but they aren't big stars and it won't become a big deal, so they'll get no punishment.

Not sure how the appeal will work, but based on past punishment for lesser offenses the NFL seems to have a case.....

All fair points, but if you read this judge's report she clearly states things like "predator behavior", "clear non-violent sexual assault", clearly he (DW) was not being truthful... and my favorite, banned from visiting any non team sanctioned massage therapist for entirety of career.

So six games? Clearly she wants to continue to be the "go-to" arbiter/mediator for players union and owners so she gave a gutless ruling and kicked can back to Goodell so he can decide more or not.

And someone needs to explain to me what non violent sexual assault is... I guess showing someone your junk?
Showing someone your junk??? Ask Mike McQueary!

This is headed to federal court. On one hand, the NFL’s appeal going to Goodell is a complete conflict of interest. On the other hand, the NFLPA signed the agreement on that appeals process. 🤷‍♂️

And they will say it’s been collectively bargained. End of court case

And that’s why this will wind up at 8-9 games. There’s no way the NFL can go to a respected independent arbitrator who wrote a well reasoned opinion on a 6 game ban, and then simply overrule that and take it to 17.

There’s no sound basis for that. But going to 8-9 is defensible in any number of ways and allows the league to look tough on this behavior and save some face.

FYI….
w comes word, via multiple reports, that the league wants an indefinite suspension of at least a year for Watson as well as a fine. Under the six-game suspension imposed by disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson on Monday, Watson stood to lose $345,000 from the $230 million deal h

Goodell and the NFL are dumb. They cannot win the propaganda battle when getting involved in legal matters because there will always be another potentially controversial viewpoint the media wants to exploit. The NFL should just point to the arbitrator, say it's been collectively bargained, and say it's out if their hands.

I agree, but the NFL is dumb like you say. They’ve proven it time after time.
