....but I've always gotten the impression that Perkins was the anointed successor.

In Polk's own mind, he is the Bear Bryant of college baseball. Although he hasn't won as many championships as Bear won.

The old - Polk thinks he can do what he wants. LT thinks he can do what he wants.

The new - Byrne can now do what he wants. Cohen can now do what he wants. Croom can now do what he wants. Stansbury can now do what he wants.

Polk's season of doing what he wants has ended.

In Polks mind he has earned the right to make any decision related to MSU baseball or college baseball nationwide.

The sad reality is that he has no decision making power anymore and he has to find something else to do other than baseball.
