There was a blurb in the Greenville News back in the 1940’s or 1950’s in then-sports editor Scoop Lattimer’s column. My grandmother had told him about coming across a kid’s sandlot game at the edge of town in the 1920’s. She asked one of the boy’s what was the score. He said, “They’re beating us 13-0”!! She replied, “That’s terrible”!! He said, “That’s okay…it’s now the bottom of the 1st & WE get to bat”!! Gotta love the optimism!!
