Did Polk really almost catch the Hump on fire ?

I was reading a thread about Polk's latest tantrum that happened several days ago, and some guy says if he continues to hang around, that would mean there would be a fire started in a trashcan via one of his stogies....like last time.

If true, this would be one of the greatest rumors ever.

I vaguely seem to remember hearing something about that. It may have happened on his first go around as HC.

I do remember when Rick Stansbury went off on Karl Hess, he went to Polk's office, which he said was filled with cigar smoke. Apparently Polk tried to comfort Stans by telling him "Don't worry, it happens to me (getting kicked out of a game) all the time."

Happened in 2006 just before Basketball season started. Polk had routinely set his stogie inside a coffee cup and placed the cup into the trashcan. Late on a Friday afternoon someone was checking doors and Polk's was unlocked. When they opened it.....backdraft. Caused some damage but nothing major. Polk started smoking outside after that. I wondered where the basketaball teams would have played had significant damage happened.

Seems like I was in school. I remember reading in the "Bad Dawgs" section of the Reflector - "Starkville Fire Department responds to fire at Humphrey Coliseum." Hell he may have done it twice for all I know...
